July 9, 2007 Report

1) I have two internet radio appearances this week.
July 13, 4PM Eastern I debate Daniel Imperato at
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/asher, Asher
Heimermann,
host
July 14, 10 AM Eastern I am interviewed by Chuck Gooch
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thehawgpen
Please publicize these.

2) The Las Vegas FreedomFest was hot! For starters, the outside air
temperature was 125 F at peak, meaning it was hotter than most hot
showers. The convention was successful. While expensive, the dollars
per
person reached worked well.

Many thanks to Debra and Alan Payne-Dedmon for organizing the local
volunteers who helped man the booth. Extra volunteers meant that I
could have lunch, do off-line meetings, and have a series of statements

taped professionally. Alan did a series of videotapes after
considerable
very helpful coaching on body positioning. Tapes will be prepared for
youtube and merged into a DVD that we will distribute.

There were 1000 nominal attendees, of whom about 500 were in sessions
and the rest were seeing the town. Most of the 500 received a palm
card
and other literature. Booth placement left something to be desired;
national next year will be much better.

I spent much time listening. There was only one issue that people
cared
about. Immigration. The general sentiment was extreme anger. Look for

an immigration statement soon.

I received a few donations, gained more commitments of delegate votes,
and spoke to large numbers of people. The Ron Paul people I spoke to
were attached to reality, and understood "What will you do if he does
not win?" The answer was "Vote Libertarian!" We overestimated how
many
attendees would be passing by the booth, and have an adequate stock of
the issue statements ready for handouts at national next year.

3) Debra Dedmon, our Nevada Coordinator, has agreed to take over
literature distribution. She presently has the new issue statements on

nine colors of astrobright, lapel stickers, and a stock of
PhilliesBucks. She will have the new bumper stickers when they are
printed. Regional and affinity coordinators will each be sent a supply

of these, soon. Reach her at libertariangirl702@yahoo.com .

4) Maria and Bob Folsom are the new Montana Coordinators. They are
implementing a market solution -- the Liberty for Massachusetts
solution
-- for a state in which more activism support is needed. We may have
found volunteers for DC and Mississippi.

5) The Craig Huey marketing class was very good. We will follow his
advice on an alternative front page for Phillies 2008, and on a
different fundraising letter, and market test. The new LNC State
template and the godaddy.com front page are the opposite extreme.
Also,
many thanks to Mr. Blue Hill (Private Placement Investor newsletter)
for
marketing advice that worked.

6) Money: The LibertyLists letter drew limited amount. Carol McMahon
reports that fund raising is increasing month after month. Carol has
vigorously urged that we send out more fundraising letters, and we will

be following this plan

7) Opposition research:
Jingozian--appears to have no Libertarian issues, and is not
campaigning
Imperato--is campaigning in many places, but generates very
little
support.
Kubby--puts up a weekly radio statement.
Smith--puts up a monthly blog statement.
Root--listeners at Nevada--Root got on a panel--tagged him as a
slickster in under one minute. Root is a registered Republican as of
July 4.

Also: Fred Thompson--Richard Viguerrie put out an 8 page statement
denying that Thompson serious conservative credentials. Viguerrie gave
Thompson an F on the Goldwater and Reagan tests. HOWEVER, Viguerrie has

changed his mind and now says that Ron Paul is the only Republican
candidate who passes both the Goldwater and the Reagan tests, meaning
that Ron Paul may now get substantial conservative support before he
goes down.

Finally, ThirdPartyWatch.Com is circulating speculation on my financial

status. Almost all of it is wrong. You should therefore also
disbelieve their Wayne Root analysis. Every candidate must submit a
financial disclosure statement to the FEC, though these do not appear
to
be available on the net, so we candidates have few secrets. Should
anyone ask, most of this being in the accessible records:
Salary: In the range $100-110,000 per year. I am taking a full

year leave of absence in 2008.
House: I paid $480,000 and borrowed $250,000 of that. After
renovations, replacement insurance is for $750,000.
Net worth: Something around 2 ½ million, the larger part of
which is liquid. Somewhat over 1 million is in various 403(B), 401K,
and Roth IRA plans.

GOOD NEWS FOR OUTREACH NOTES, including FUNDRAISING DATA, will be
released separately.
