Bush & Castro [ESP] [ENG]

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-07-25 - 19:20:37

I am often reminded about the confrontation between Castro and Bush, or other US Presidents. But there is a growing awareness in the USA that Bush [as well as other Republicans and Democrats] have maintained Castro, Chavez and others in power in order to sustain their slave minded economy.

An article by the BBC about the graduation of US Citizens from Cuban Medical Schools under an agreement between the Republicans/Democrats in the USA and Communist Authorities in Cuba underscores this. Of course, the deal is that these Physicians practice in marginalized areas. These Graduates receive the same status that graduates of a US School receive.

What about the US Citizens who had the same deal with Grenada and the Dominican Republic? US Citizens who study in those countries were classified as International Medical Graduates, forced to pass rigorous examinations and then undergo the struggle to undergo residency/internship training, and obtaining a license to practice medicine.

Even now, [as the news of Doctors involved in terrorist activities is circulating] the USA has one set of laws for one group, another set of laws for another group with laws piling upon laws. The same thing occurs in other areas such as immigration.

What is needed is not to change the laws to enforce the existing ones with regard to health care. Encourage people to go into the medical field by removing the excessive restrictions that a Medical Doctor finds themselves in. It may or may not happen secondary to powerful lobbies [which should be abolished] and an excessive bureaucracy that is drowning in excessive [and possibly repetitive] laws.

An Interview with Steph

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-07-25 - 15:32:42

Since the Alvarez-Galloso News Hour has found a home in blog.co.uk, Alvarez-Galloso has been looking at different blogs. One of the blogs was Steph and the concept of Womanism.

Many people can disagree with an individual peacefully and Alvarez-Galloso decided that Steph's Blog and Opinions deserve to be known on the basis of their merit and logic. For this reason, Steph was invited and she accepted to be interviewed by the Alvarez-Galloso News Hour to bring the concept of womanism out into the open.

Alvarez: I would like to thank you for coming to the Alvarez-Galloso News Hour. While I agree with you about feminism, I would like to know how did you arrive at the conclusions of feminism being another form of colonialism?

Steph: The simple answer is to say look at the feminist movement today: it's the cheerleaders for American imperialism.

Steph: Individual feminists might not have supported the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq but feminism as a political movement did. Feminists of all political stripes in Britain and America supported the invasion and occupation of foreign countries, genocide, ethnic-cleansing, exploitation. In Afghanistan Donna Hughes was wheeled out to say how America's bombing of innocent Afghans was justified because America was liberating women from the burqa and the Taliban. She forgot to ask them if they wanted to be "liberated" from the burqa, the Taliban, their husbands, their children or their lives.

Even feminists that opposed the wars have been happy to support the use of violence to oppress the indigenous populations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and impose feminist ideals on them. When feminists oppose the Shariah and the hijab in Muslims countries against the will of the people, they're not liberating them, they're oppressing them.

Alvarez: What is the difference between feminism and womanism?

Steph: Womanism is sometimes called black feminism, it rejects the colonialism and fascist tendencies of feminism. It's an indigenous woman's right movements. So Womanism is rejection of feminist ideology but a belief that supports the rights of women from within the culture that they live. Womanism tends to be egalitarian, whereas feminism isn't.

Alvarez: If there is ever a World Wide Caliphate and you were ordered to wear a burqa, would you wear a burqa?

Steph: I don't think there would be a global Caliphate in my lifetime. I don't like hypothetical questions. I respect Islam so I wouldn't have a problem wearing the hijab when visiting Muslim countries but I'm a European Christian, I enjoy not having to cover my hair. I don't mind covering my head with a black shawl when I go to Church, that's my tradition, but if I was an Iraqi Muslim I sure I'd feel differently.

Alvarez: In what way is womanism compatible with Islamic Theology?

Steph: Because womanism is indigenous, womanism isn't an ideology like feminism is. Iran has a strong indigenous Islamic women's movement, which is womanist in my opinion.

Alvarez:What has been the worst criticism that you received for your ideas?

Steph: How graphic do you want me? Most of the criticism are constructive, the insults and threats aren't really criticisms. Threatening to rape and bugger me and suggesting that I've been sexually abused are pretty offensive but they're not really criticisms.

Alvarez:What advice would you give the women of the world?

Steph: Don't be ashamed or proud of being a woman - just be one. Be confident in who you are and live your life, your way

regards

Steph X

Alvarez: Steph, I would like to thank you for this interview and for taking the time to answer my questions. Without much, best wishes to you and your blog.

Superliga Slugfest

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-07-25 - 14:41:08

Superliga Slugfest

FC Dallas and Chivas Guadalajara played the Superliga on the 24th of July 2,007.

The first 56 minutes were the routine with both teams vying for possession of the ball and game.

Finally, Alvarez kicked the ball over the goalkeepers head and scored the first goal. Roberto was happy since he supported FC Dallas.

Chivas Guadalajara was not going to permit a defeat and Olivera kicked the ball above Burse’s Head to score an equalizer for Chivas Guadalajara at 67:00. Roberto was happy as well since he supports Chivas Guadalajara and that team is the sister team of Chivas USA.

All of the happiness that Roberto had during the game quickly disappeared when one of the players for FC Dallas; Moor committed acts of aggression against one of the players from Chivas Guadalajara. This act of violence was punished with Moor rightfully expelled from the game.

Regardless, the Superliga between Chivas Guadalajara and FC Dallas turned into a slugfest with tensions running high in the last 28 minutes of the game. It is these random acts of violence that hurt football and reinforces the stereotypes that the so called “Mainstream US Media” promote.

It is time to expose these acts violence and say No to Football Violence and say yes to the game. Those who do practice football violence should choose boxing or wrestling. For this act of stupidity, Roberto has decided to punish both teams with his evaluation for the slugfest.

FC Dallas 1-1 Chivas Guadalajara

Chivas Guadalajra: 2/10

Mugabe and Press TV

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-07-25 - 02:01:39

Press TV Journalist Yvonne Ridley dedicated a segment in "The Agenda" to Zimbabwe and Mugabe. Among the people interviewed were A Representative for MDC [Movement for Democratic Change] from Great Britain and Ireland; Mr. Julius Sal Mutyambiza-Dewa, Stephan Chen who is Professor of the School of Oriental and African Studies, and Wilf Mbanga; Editor of The Zimbabwean.

Ms. Ridley stated in "The Agenda" that an official from the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe refused an invitation to appear in the programme to explain the position of Mugabe.

The subject was whether Mugabe was a liberator or a tyrant. The response from Dr. Chen was both. The Independent Journalist and the MDC Representative for the UK and Ireland stated that Mugabe was a tyrant.

There were comments about how Mugabe has created conditions for either a violent revolution or civil war. The three interviewees agreed that South Africa has the leverage to force change but does not want to since South African President Mbeki supports Mugabe.

The interviewees also agreed that Mugabe is using the nationalist card for his own ends and that there is a general dismay at the situation in Zimbabwe. Press TV also interviewed a group of demonstrators in the Zimbabwean Embassy in London.

Ms. Ridley added that investors are lining up into Zimbabwe, the response of Mr. Mbanga was that opportunists can make money even in unstable times. Mr. Mbanga struck a chord since we have the same situation in the American Continent in terms of opportunists and speculators.

Ms. Ridley also asked the question of what would happen if MDC was accused of "sell out". The response of Mr. Sal Mutyambuza-Dewa was the need for global trade, term limits, and transparency in a governmen with separation of powers.

Another invitation was a Human Rights Activist who talked about radio and TV with sanctions against the ruling class. In this part, there is disagreement on the part of the underwriter since there are blogs such as the ones existing in blog.co.uk, short wave radio stations like SW Africa FM.

After seeing "The Agenda" on Press TV, many conclusions have to be drawn.

Press TV and Ms. Yvonne Ridley have done their homework concerning Zimbabwe. Press TV has done a coverage of Zimbabwe at the same par as the BBC, RNW [Radio Netherlands], CBC/RCI [Canada], and CRI [China]. This type of special in depth coverage does not exist in the "Mainstream Media" of the USA except for PBS [Public Broadcasting Service]. Press TV deserves a 100% for their report.

Mugabe is nothing more than a tyrant with a desire to maintain power at any cost. Mugabe is willing to sacrifice Zimbabwe por his personal gain and could care less about the hyoerinflation, lack of basic necessities. Mugabe is creating a replica of North Korea as Ark-888 has said.

South Africa has leverage but does not want to use it. Maybe South Africe may use leverage if there are a lot of cancellations for the World Cup 2010. I myself contemplated taking my wife and daughter to South Africa as a 15th birthday present and at the same time watch the World Cup in South Africa. I have cancelled my trip to South Africa until the situation resolves itself. Many people have done the same thing and are contemplating Brazil 2014.

Others are thinking about petitioning FIFA to transfer the World Cup to the USA or Europe.

The thoughts and prayers of the underwriter is with the people of Zimbabwe who are suffering a nightmare that could have been a Hollywood Film if it were not real.
