Zimbabwe: The Romanticism and Reality

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-07-30 - 19:16:33

Right now in the afternoon in Miami, Florida; I was at a CD Shop and the CD Player was playing the Bob Marley Concert with a song about Zimbabwe.

Bob Marley recorded the reggae before dying in 1980 [which is the same year that Mugabe came to power after Independence]. I was thinking about the verses in the song and the current reality of Zimbabwe today.

It also reminded me of a reggae recorded by Stevie Wonder in the same year titled: "Jammin.." which he said: "Peace has come to Zimbabwe....". The Theories of 1980 collide with realities of today as Mugabe holds on to power and Zimbabwe is on the brink of collapse.

As this article is being written, The Zimbabwean reports about a Press Statement of arbitrary detentions and assaults against 243 National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) members in Harare, the “nationalisation” of water by the Mugabe Government, the suspension of three student activists, and 11 demonstrations by MOZA [Men of Zimbabwe Arise] and WOZA [Women of Zimbabwe Arise] in Bulawayo. Bulawayo is one of the principal cities in Zimbabwe second to Harare.

I can only think how long will the agonies last and when finally Zimbabwe comes out of it nightmare, how long will the reconstruction last and at what price. Regardless, Mugabe has cancelled any positive achievements with his megalomania and desire to hold on to power.

Not Joking About Jihadists

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-07-30 - 18:21:35

Alvarez has just finished the BBC WHYS article by Fiona Crack titled: “Joking about Jihadists”. The bottom paragraph was a comment submitted by Alvarez:

It is OK to make fun of politicians and personalities in music, theater, even the news. It is in bad taste to make fun of someone because of their religion, place of birth, ethnicity, social status, or race. These sorts of things are the equivalent of throwing gasoline at a burning house.
BBC WHYS also left some websites for those interested in reading can do so at their leisure. A Petition Website has been added for residents and subjects of the United Kingdom so that they could sign it.

Mexico VS USA in Immigration and History

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-07-30 - 15:15:11

We might be a witness to history repeating itself inversely. In 1821, Mexico became Independent and allowed immigration. People from the Eastern United States in search of opportunities came to what is now Texas.

The more people heard about Texas, the more people went to Texas [which was actually Mexican Territory] and soon the Anglo-American Population was predominant in Texas than the Mexican Population. The Anglo-Americans became increasingly restless under Mexican Rule and started fighting for their independence. Remember, these were people who left states such as Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee to move into a foreign country. The Texans as they cam to be called fought in the Alamo where Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett were killed.

In 1836, Texas became independent from Mexico only to convert into another state in 1845. Afterwards, Mexico and the USA fought a war in which the USA invaded Mexico and arrived all the way to Mexico City. The result was Santa Ana [Mexican President at that time] was forced to give up almost half of Mexico [now California, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas] to the USA.

The Mexican that remained in these territories voluntarily were treated with discriminatory laws even though most had assimiliated into the "American" Culture. The same applied to the African-American Slaves, Asians, and Native Americans [who were almost entirely wiped out in an act of genocide].

After World War II, Truman decided that the USA needed "Guest Workers" to work in America and many Mexicans applied. [Truman deserves some blame as well].

All of this the author learned while studying US History in his native Ohio.

Who cannot forget Alberto Gonzales the embattled Attorney General? Alberto Gonzales was born and raised in Texas. Alberto Gonzales played by the rules in the USA. What is the response of the USA to one of its citizens? The Congress enacts accusations against him and want to crucify him because he is a Mexican American [excuse me, American of Mexican Decent].

This is the same White Anglo-Saxon Congress of Republicans and Democrats who talk about patriotism but are traitors, thieves, pedophiles [one Congress Person was removed for Cybersex with minors] and prostitutes [remember Senator Chenowith making love in the Idaho Room one night and she did not have a potato in her vagina].

I would like to add that there is a need for Latin America to clean its mess. Cuba has the same problem. Cuba was destroyed by Castro but now the people who are leaving Cuba are the ones who destroyed Cuba. People like Del Pino, Castro's Daughter [Alina Fernandez Revuelta] are welcomed with open arms by the US Government while those who have lived in Florida are marginalized.

These people have increased the price of property in Miami Florida and now instead of fighting, those who lived in Miami Florida are moving to Georgia and North Carolina where the cycle can repeat itself [unless something is done]. These are the people who should be screened and deported. All of this should have happened before but again the Republicans and Democrats needed their cheep labor.

Having finished the history and civic section, I agree with the need for a unified America with a unified culture and one language. I challenge the people of America to do five things:

1. Do the work of undocumented workers.

2. Create a climate of love where American Citizens can marry amongst each other without regard to race, ethnicity, and ideology. [Right now two US Citizens by Birth were married in their home town of Boise Idaho under armed guard. The groom was African-American [Sorry, American of African Ancestry] and the bride was a White European American [Sorry, American of European Ancestry].

3. Vote out the root cause of the problems in immigration, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid which are the Republicans and Democrats and replace them with a Multiracial, Multiethnic Libertarian Green Government.

4. Privatize the US Government.

5. Strip the Republicans, Democrats, Communists, Nazis, and Racists of US Citizenship for having created a climate of hate in the world and for starting this mess.

6. Instead of making a new amnesty, and new laws which could be enforced selectivly by the Republican and Democratic Monster misgoverning our country; existing laws should be enforced and there should be requirements [including the above]

The reason is that most of the abuse in government has also been committed by our corrupt and inept officials as well as Insurance Companies, and businesses whose loyalty is Money. [The Money part is true because I remember while at Public School in Ohio, we were told to show loyalty to the almighty US Dollar as part of being "American".]

Felicidades Irak [Esp]

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-07-30 - 04:24:11

Congratulations Iraq

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-07-30 - 04:13:07

Congratulations Iraq

After reading about Iraq’s victory over Saudi Arabia, Roberto decided to write an article in Socca Critics concerning Iraq’s Victory.

Iraq deserves its First Historic Victory in the AFC Asian Cup 2007. Since the US Invasion of Iraq, Iraq has known nothing except sectarian violence, and hatred. The fact that the Iraqi National Team exists and was strong enough to defeat many countries including Saudi Arabia is proof that the impossible can be achieved.

While most of the credit goes to Younis Mahmoud, the rest of the Iraqi National Football Team deserves credit in the face of adversity. Iraq’s Victory is further proof that a country divided among political and ethnic lines can be united in the area of football.

Roberto is extremely happy about Iraq’s Victory and he hopes that Iraq can win more victories and maybe even the World Cup in 2010 or 2014. It is possible if the Iraqi National Football Team maintains the unity, discipline, and tenacity that it had during the AFC Asian Cup of 2007.

Instead of teaching Iraq, the world should learn from Iraq.
