Ward Churchill

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-08-01 - 14:58:12

It is has come to the attention of the Alvarez-Galloso News Hour that Colorado University fired controversial writer and professor Ward Churchill. The Alvarez-Galloso News Hour decided to look at this from many angles given the controversy surrounding Mr. Churchill.

Ward Churchill was famous and infamous when he called the victims of the 9-11-2001 attacks “Little Eichmanns”.

He gained attention when he stated the following comments in a 2004 interview with Satya Magazine: “If I defined the state as being the problem, just what happens to the state? I’ve never fashioned myself to be a revolutionary, but it’s part and parcel of what I’m talking about.
You can create through consciousness a situation of flux, perhaps, in which something better can replace it. In instability there’s potential. That’s about as far as I go with revolutionary consciousness. I’m actually a de-evolutionary. I don’t want other people in charge of the apparatus of the state as the outcome of a socially transformative process that replicates oppression. I want the state gone: transform the situation to U.S. out of North America. U.S. off the planet. Out of existence altogether”

After this statement, there were accusations of misconduct and not conforming to academic standards. Even the politicians in Colorado exerted pressure to fire Churchill.

Who cannot forget the famous interview by Raj Chohan of CBS 4 News in Denver Colorado in which Ward Churchill nearly assaulted the cameraman and reporter? He refused to answer the questions posed by Raj Chohan about plagiarizing a work of art. Afterwards, Ward Churchill came out of his office to answer questions.

If Colorado University removed Churchill due to political pressure, they have received plenty of ammunition from the governing elite in Colorado. It will not be known unless documentation is presented to the public proving whether he performed below the academic standards of Colorado University.

It cannot be forgotten that Ward Churchill may have committed professional suicide by his attitude towards Raj Chohan and CBS 4 News in Denver since the press has a right to know whether he plagiarized a painting or not. A person who assaults and insults a reporter and a cameraman commits professional suicide. Maybe the readers may want to take a look at the CBS 4 Denver report by Raj Chohan and decide for themselves. The readers can also look at the sources to arrive at their conclusions.
