Zimbabwe names New Coaches

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-08-06 - 15:14:46

In June of 2007, Zimbabwe dissolved its coaching team after poor results in football.

Zimbabwe has announced on the 4th of August 2007 that Former skipper Norman Mapeza and Swiss Marc Duvillard will be “caretaker” coaches for the game against Malawi on the 9th of September 2007. After the game with Malawi, they will “leave” their post.

In theory, this Cinderella type story of rags to riches to rags looks good in football. The reality is that football in Zimbabwe is in a state of crisis. It is in the bottom of the rankings of African Football. A Caretaker team is not expected to turn things around in a month unless radical changes in the way a team plays its game, with direction, discipline, and tenacity.

This would be asking much. Maybe Zimbabwe knows something that the football world does not know. Regardless, do not expect miracles.

La Galaxy 0-0 Toronto

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2007-08-06 - 03:12:18

In 1974, Billy Preston recorded the song: "Nothing from Nothing". In 2007, BMO Field in Toronto Ontario Canada was witness to a "Nothing and Nothing" in Football.

Roberto was hoping that Toronto would end its losing streak in this game only to be deceived.

Roberto was angry that neither team was able to score in this very important game for both teams. Roberto was also angered that Beckham did not play but at least he understood the need for an athlete to rest before being able to play an active role with the LA Galaxy.

Roberto's anger went to the boiling point when he heard some US Citizens say that the people pay to see Beckham play and that Beckham is letting US Football / Soccer down. Roberto had to tell these ignorant people that when Shaquille O' Neal injures himself, no one asks for their money back in an NBA Game. It is the case of revolution VS reaction. the USA is in the middle phase of a Soccer Revolution and there are reactionaries who would love to sabotage it at every turn.

Even though no goal was scored, at least Toronto and New York did not concede any points in their classifications.

The losers were also the reactionaries in America who think that football/ soccer has no place in North America. For the reactionaries who think the USA is North America; the USA, Canada, and Mexico is North America. Mexico has a big football/soccer following. The USA and Canada are following suit and it is growing in numbers.
