FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION EXCLUDES ALTERNATIVE CANDIDATES [CUIP]

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-04 - 20:36:33

ABC News and FOX News are trying to narrow the field of presidential candidates Americans get to hear just as the first votes are being cast. Let's pressure the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to act! Here's the story:

First, FOX News has invited the Republican candidates to participate in a forum on Sunday, January 6, 2 days before the New Hampshire primary. But they have excluded Ron Paul, who has been climbing in the polls, and has raised $19 million in the last three months -- more money than any other Republican candidate in the quarter. And he received 10% of the vote in Iowa!

Congressman Paul is the only Republican who has come out strongly against the Iraq war, and who has challenged many of George Bush's positions. The fundraising and poll numbers show Paul's positions are resonating with the American people. FOX has not publically released its criteria for including candidates in the forum, so we are left to infer the reasons behind their decision.

Second, ABC News and WMUR-TV are sponsoring Republican and Democratic debates on Saturday, January 5. This week they issued criteria for participation: a candidate has to either 1) place in the top 4 in Iowa; 2) poll at 5% in NH, or 3) poll at 5% nationally. ABC is arbitrarily deciding who the American people hear from! Given the Iowa results, and that Dodd and Biden have dropped out of the race, this criteria only excludes Dennis Kucinich. Let the people decide!

By law, the debate sponsors are supposed to issue pre-existing objective criteria for who gets to participate in the debates. FOX News has issued no criteria at all. ABC only issued their criteria on Tuesday, January 1, for a debate taking place on January 5. It seems the criteria is being used to shape the results of the election. Where is the FEC? It is the agency charged with enforcing the limited fairness protections that have been enacted in our election laws!

Let's flood the FEC General Counsel's office with letters and phone calls urging her to take action! The NH debates are critical, as they are just days before the first votes are cast in the nation. The FEC should demand that FOX and ABC include all ballot-qualified candidates in the debates.

The American West No More, Lakota Nation Releases National Map
Lakota Natural Land-Base Divides 5 U.S. State Boundaries
"As long as the grass grows, and the rivers flow, this land will always be yours."

Lakota - Lakota Oyate, a continuing effort of the Lakota Freedom Delegation, released a map of national boundaries which will force state and Federal government in five states to begin the process of planning their governmental initiatives without tens of thousands of acres of land.

Meanwhile, the Lakota people begin the process of recovering their natural land-base without U.S. government interference. Protection of sacred sites and confrontation with exploitative government and private enterprises that have been removing or polluting Lakota lands comes to the forefront.
The map, which can be found at www.lakotaoyate.com provides an initial glimpse into a free and independent Lakota.

"The free Lakota nation is regaining the original natural territory of its unceeded land," said Lakota Freedom Delegate Canupa Gluha Mani (Duane Martin Sr.). "The white man promised that as long as the grass grows and the rivers flow this land will always be yours[the Lakota]. This promise still lives within the heart of the Lakota Nation."
The northern and western boundaries of Lakota run along the Yellowstone and Big Horn rivers in North Dakota and Montana. The southern boundaries run along the North Platte and Platte rivers in Wyoming and Nebraska, while the eastern boundary of Lakota shares the bank of the Missouri River.

Canupa Gluha Mani added, "The He Sapa will never be for sale, its just returning to its natural owners, the Lakota Independent Nation."
Lakota Oyate emerges from the work of the Lakota Freedom Delegation and continues to ensure the voice of the oyate - the Elders, children and all people - are respected and heard in the rebirth of the Lakota Nation. For more information, please visit our new website at www.lakotaoyate.net

Corporate Media Excludes Alternative Parties [NOT SURPRISED]

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-04 - 17:31:22

Once again, the corporate media is trying to tell you which candidates you're allowed to vote for.

ABC and Fox News are sponsoring debates just before the New Hampshire presidential primary.

Both ABC and FOX are ruthlessly using their control of these debates to limit the choice of American voters -- before the first vote is cast!

Here's what they've done:

ABC NEWS HAS EXCLUDED KUCINICH, GRAVEL, AND OTHERS: In an arbitrary decision that shakes our democracy to its very core, ABC News has set debate criteria that exclude Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel, Chris Dodd, Joe Biden and Duncan Hunter from their Saturday debates. New Hampshire has a recent history of open debates. As a result of these exclusions the New Hampshire Union Leader newspaper has decided not to co-sponsor the debate.

FOX NEWS HAS EXCLUDED RON PAUL: Fox News has done ABC one step worse by calling it's Sunday debate a "candidate forum" to avoid setting any criteria at all. They're using this technicality to exclude Ron Paul - even though the co-sponsoring New Hampshire Republican Party issued a statement saying they want all the candidates included.

FOX and ABC are using arbitrary criteria to exclude the diverse and anti-war voices in the Democratic and Republican primaries and limit the participation of independent voters.

Cameron Fired

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-04 - 17:30:38

After a long conversation with Parcells, Cameron was fired as Coach of the Miami Dolphins for being the chief architect of the 2007 NFL Season which resulted in only one win for the Miami Dolphins.

As predicted, this was inevitable and Cameron admitted in a Press Conference his responsibility in the disastrous results of the Miami Dolphins. At the present time, maybe the Miami Dolphins will have results.

It must be taken into account that the road will be difficult and long yet it will eventually pay off. I supported the decision of Parcells to fire Mueller as General Manager of the Miami Dolphins. I also applaud the decision of Parcells to fire Cameron as Coach taking into account what transpired in the 2007 Season.

In closing, Parcells also has my support in reorganizing the Miami Dolphins.

Team Loyalty

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-04 - 17:30:06

Lampard has stated that he would like to remain in Chelsea until he retires.

As a Chelsea Supporter, I applaud his decision to support Chelsea. For the detractors who are questioning his loyalty thinking of monetary gains or retirement, I have to disagree.

While understanding that money makes the world go around and changes loyalties, there are still people who love a club or are content to work where they are. There are people who love their clubs and not one amount of money will change that.

It is refreshing to see that Lampard still feels that way about Chelsea. My heart is also with Chelsea and Stamford Bridge and there is nothing like loyalty to a team and an organization.

George Phillies: 21st Century Benjamin Franklin

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-04 - 17:06:50

An example of a visionary leading the world towards the 21st Century is George Phillies and the Libertarian Party. George Phillies and the Libertarian Party are symbols of the America that yearns to be itself.

George Phillies had his beginnings in Buffalo New York on the 23rd of July 1947. He lived most of his life in the United States and was able to acquire knowledge of physics and human political behavior. His travels took him to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned his degree of Bachelor of Science in physics and in life sciences. He also obtained a Master of Science and Doctor of Science degrees in physics.

He worked at UCLA [Santa Monica California] as a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemistry. Afterward, he went to Ann Arbor, Michigan to work in the University of Michigan as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry. Finally, he settled down at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute as a Professor of Physics and Associate of the Biochemistry Faculty.

During his lifetime, George Phillies never forgot his duties to his country and served in the Armed Forces Reserve from 1971 to 1977 as a Specialist Fifth Class. His work with surfactant, polymer solutions, and wavelets brought him international acclaim. His Science Fiction Book "The Shining Sea" as well as his Textbook "Elementary Lectures in Statistical Mechanics" also brought more prestige to this contemporary Benjamin Franklin.

For George Phillies so loved the USA that he decided to run for President under the Libertarian Party Ticket. His attempts at nomination have attracted the attention of the world especially since he was not a "career politician".

My impression of George Phillies is that he is our country's salvation. Our country is rapidly becoming a sick one and his ideas of Peace, Liberty, and Responsibility is what we need.

Peace does not come at any price. Peace comes with the withdrawal of the USA from Commitments contrary to the Constitution. The Middle East is not going to resolve itself unless it is by its own initiative. The Two Korea's appear to be getting along fine. The UN and other International Organizations use the USA as a punching bag and we are paying for their extravagant lifestyle. Peace and Charity begins at home and we must help ourselves first and foremost. Any troops that are withdrawn from the International Theaters can work guarding our borders against those who come in illegally.

While Immigration is good, people must understand that every country has its laws governing legal immigration. The person goes through the paperwork, receives the visa, and then complies with the laws or returns to his country. Illegal Immigration is the equivalent of going into a person's house without permission.

Liberty and Responsibility go hand in hand. We must learn to be accountable for our actions in the good and bad. We can no longer blame past injustices for the behaviours of the present.

I also want to add something to this ingredient, dignity. Dignity is the crown for Peace, Liberty, and Responsibility. Dignity is the right to live one's life without interference from a "Nanny State" looking at us at every corner.

Like George Phillies, I was a Republican during the 1980's and left in 1989 after George Bush I hijacked the Republicans to serve his personal interests. It was after a decade with the Reform Party that I converted to Libertarian Ideals [2001]. It may have been late, people say I am crazy, but the alternative to Phillies will be a gradual descent to civil war, division based on race and ethnicity [I have read the history of the partition of India], or worse.

I want my daughter who is a pre teen to live in a world where the ideals of America as embodied by George Phillies and the Libertarian Party exist. Remember, slavery is easier than freedom but I prefer freedom.

Iowa Caucus

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-04 - 17:05:14

With all of the respect that Iowa deserves, the truth should be told. The Iowa Caucus is always blown out of proportion by the media and the parties. The Iowa Caucus is also an exclusive club where Libertarians and Greens are excluded while Republicans and Democrats receive all of the publicity. This is hardly democratic.

The Iowa Caucus like the Primary System is a waste of time and is designed to entertain people with a political soap opera. The candidates are busy spending their time going around the streets and farms trying to find that photo that will increase their chances of the presidency. The Media itself does an excellent job in photo opportunities and planning events so as to capture the big scoop of the day and the election for awards.

Examples of how the Iowa Caucus excludes people is the exclusion of Ron Paul from the Republican Debates and Kucinich from the Democratic Debates. At least Iowa Public Television and the Des Moines Register should have allowed these two to participate in televised debates. As always, the Big People who Say the Same Things without Doing them are the ones carrying the day.

The positive side of the Iowa Caucus are the hotels, restaurants, and shopping malls that would have been emptied after Christmas. If I was a retailer, a hotel manager, or a restaurant manager in Iowa; I probably would have taken advantage of the Iowa Caucus to make some extra money. The same applies to being a mechanic. The reason is that while the Caucus is around, money is to be made. After the caucus, there is no money.

The System of Caucus and Primaries is an outdated one which could be easily replaced by a State Convention which nominates the delegates followed by the National Convention which would nominate the Next President. For this reason, the Caucus and the Primaries should be phased out gradually.

Iraqi National Football Team

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-04 - 17:04:23

The Iraqi National Football [Soccer] Team have been nominated to be the Team of the Year for 2007 by a local magazine in America. I disagree since the Nomination should be for Team of the 21 st Century. For his excellent job in getting Iraq its first championship, Younis Mahmoud was named the top scorer and the Most Valuable Player. Younis Mahmoud is also deserving of Player of the Century.

The AFC Asian Cup of 2007 demonstrated to Iraq and the World that Sports [including Football/Soccer] and Not Politics is the resolution for today's problems. For the duration of the AFC Asian Cup of 2007, Iraq temporarily forgot their differences and discovered that all of its inhabitants shared the same destiny. People were cheering Iraq while watching the games on TV. Al Iraqiya carried segments of the AFC Asian Games 2007 and the genuine reaction of the people. This was also confirmed by watching segments of IRIB and Al Arabiya of the people of Mosul, Basra, Baghdad supporting Iraq.

In spite of the Constant Meddling by Saddam Hussein, the US Invasion of Iraq, and the Bloodshed that followed; there was a determination amongst the players of the Iraqi National Football Team to show that Sports Unites and surpasses even the worst ethnic hatreds.

The Iraqi National [Football] Team proved that working as a team; they were able to be the top scorer in their group [Group A], defeat Australia 3-1, advance to the knock out stages by defeating Vietnam, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia.

Iraq advanced relentlessly with a victory over Vietnam and a draw with South Korea in the Quarter Finals.

In the last game with Iraq facing Saudi Arabia, the game was tense but the revenge by Iraq against Saudi Arabia was sweet with Younis Mahmoud scoring the winning goal that gave Iraq its First Championship. Iraq went in a celebration frenzy only to have it cut short by the routine of a war that never ends.

Iraq winning the AFC Asian Cup Championship proved that we can live together as a football nation.

Cartas a la BBC sobre EEUU

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-04 - 17:03:11

Cameron Despedido

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-04 - 17:01:06

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-04 - 17:00:34
