Wexler Discusses Bush Impeachment

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-28 - 21:13:30

Tonight, President Bush will issue what will thankfully be his final State of the Union address; but, little of what he says can be trusted.

For the past seven years, we have watched as America has moved steadily backwards. We have become a nation that is less free and less fair. We have become a nation that no longer values the right to privacy and has tragically retreated from our cherished foundations.

Nothing George W. Bush says tonight will change the sad reality of the America he has given us:

- Our economy teeters on the edge of recession while property taxes spike and homeowners are losing their homes at record levels;

- Our educational system is broken and our teachers are abandoned;

- Our roads and bridges languish in disrepair, while our borders and ports remain under-inspected and insecure;

- Our most basic ideals about law and justice have been tossed out, as our President uses fear to pursue his reckless agenda; and

- We remain mired in Iraq in a war built on lies and manipulated intelligence.

Nowhere in American history - not even Watergate - have we been confronted with an Administration so ambivalent about the truth and established law. A recent nonpartisan study found that the Bush Administration lied over 900 times in the prelude to the Iraq war, misleading us on nearly every critical issue.

It is time that we reclaim this country and undue the damage wrought by George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

Democrats in Congress must stand up and lead no matter the cost.

We need to finally act on the promises of the 2006 election and stop at nothing to bring our troops home from the Iraq. If we do not act Bush will install a permanent US presence in Iraq and John McCain's vision of a 100 year US occupation will become reality. (Click here to read my recent editorial on the Failure of the Bush Surge in Iraq.)

It is time that we faced up to our global responsibilities and begin to prevent global warming. In the richest nation on earth, it is long past time that we provide health insurance to every single American.

We must aggressively pursue impeachment hearings for Vice President Dick Cheney due to serious allegations of abuse of power including illegal wiretapping, torture, and deliberate lies to bring us to war. (Click here to see my recent speech on the floor of the House calling for impeachment hearings).

Fifteen members of Congress - including 4 Judiciary Committee members - have already joined my call to Chairman Conyers for impeachment hearings and more are joining each day: (Click here to see the letter I am sending to Congressman Conyers and the list of members who have joined as signatories.)

Bush Administration officials and cabinet members must answer questions -on the record - regarding illegal wiretapping, torture, and what I perceive as deliberate, knowing lies to the American people in an effort to bring us to war in Iraq.

Impeachment hearings are essential because the Administration has recklessly used claims of executive privilege to block key witnesses from testifying. Impeachment hearings could force the Administration to drop their executive privilege claims and we would then finally get the answers this nation deserves. We are making progress with over 216,000 Americans already registering their support at WexlerWantsHearings.com.

We must rededicate ourselves to the core values of this nation and finally deliver to the American people the change they demanded when they stood up and voted for Democrats in 2006.

I value your support, and I am thankful for your patriotism.

Together, we can begin to restore the state of our Union.

With warm regards,

Congressman Robert Wexler

Republican Refuses To Discuss Bush Impeachment

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-28 - 16:32:45

For Mr. Roberts:

I am of the Blog The Alvarez Galloso News Hour. I would like to invite you to be interviewed on the reasons why Bush should be impeached. If you accept my invitation, I will E Mail you ten questions and give you time to answer them. I can consider it vital that the Republicans and Democrats force Bush to be impeached.

Thank You.

Roberto C. Alvarez-Galloso,CPUR
The Alvarez Galloso News Hour

I have expressed my views on this several times. You
might do
better to get former senator Mike Gravel to make the
case and/or
simply report on the floor speeches of the House
Democrats who are trying to get a bill of impeachment
out of the Judiciary Committee.

Refran Del Dia: 28-I-2008

Heath Ledger

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-28 - 16:30:53

When I started writing about Heath Ledger, I had to ask myself the question "Who is Heath Ledger?" because in reality the majority of the today's artists are either unknown or lack talent except for scandals like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, and the Olsen Twins.

Before writing, I decided to read up on the life, times, and career of Heath Ledger. In the process, I learned a lesson in humility and not to allow myself to prejudge an artist. The system in Hollywood may not be great but there are some people who have or had talent.

Heath Ledger was an Australian Actor who became a success with the film "Brokeback Mountain". He was one of the few people from Australia who gave Hollywood and the Entertainment Industry
his best. After seeing portions of the film "Brokeback Mountain", it was difficult to distinguish between the acting and the real thing. While it may be easy to blame many spheres of life such as society, expectations of the artist as a "God" or "Superior Deity", and an inability to handle success, Heath Ledger was an exception.

Is there a possibility that Heath Ledger's Death may have been prevented? It is a question that will remain unanswered. What is known was that the person who gave Heath Ledger his massage arrived at his apartment room and that the housekeeper may have been in the house? What is also known that precious time was wasted when Heath Ledger may have been saved from either an overdose or a "possible heart attack".

What is also surreal was that no one was prepared to do CPR [Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation] and that one of the Olsen Twins [Mary Kate Olsen][who are always secure of themselves in the limelight] were numb when faced with the reality of a friend dying or dead. Why did Mary Kate Olsen not take immediate action to call the emergency number 911 or at least attempt to save his friend's life? Is Mary Kate Olsen a nervous person? Is Mary Kate Olsen afraid of the publicity? Again, I do not know the answers. What is known is that too much time was wasted on the little details to the point that a life might have been lost unnecessarily.

The lessons to be learned is the need for people to take CPR Courses and to act quickly when a person is either in choking mode, overdose mode, or is in danger of dying from closure of the vocal cords. When saving a life, time is of the essence.

Open The Two Party System in America

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-01-28 - 16:29:42

The two party systems in the United States are outdated and is a failure. It is a rare thing that the Republicans and Democrats preach and talk about human rights in the world while other political parties are actively excluded and marginalized by the Mainstream Media and the Establishment. The Republicans and Democrats are proving themselves to be old fashioned, childish, arrogant about the needs of the people, the fact that housing and insurance are becoming increasingly expensive, and that people are not voting since the elections are arranged in favour of the Republicans and Democrats.

For the people who say that votes for the other parties are a wasted vote, I have the following questions that need to be answered.
1. Who cannot forget how the City of San Francisco threatened members of the Green Party with loss of job if they voted Green during the 2000 Elections?
2. Who cannot forget how the Secretary of State of Ohio nullified 57,000 signatures on a petition by the Libertarian Party to present Michael Badnarik on the ballot in 2004?
3. Who cannot forget how the State of Ohio in the final hours of the 2004 Elections there were the existence of threats to alternative parties?
4. Who cannot forget how in the year 2006, the Republican Candidate for Governor of Illinois refused to debate with a member of the Green Party present in Illinois Public Television?
5. Who cannot forget the refusal of Republicans and Democrats to debate Libertarians and Greens in Televised Debates in Ohio in 2006?
6. Why did North Carolina use extralegal means to keep the Libertarian Party from being on the ballot?

The Republicans and Democrats are afraid of alternative parties since they are the harbingers of war, hatred, and a system that is being discredited by the minute. Even the almighty Dollar has fallen with the Euro being used in many countries such as Iran and Qatar. It is easy to hide behind the ivory tower that is Washington DC and say "Nothing is happening". It is easy to hide behind the laws that govern elections [that are discriminatory] and an Electoral College that outlived its usefulness.

The United States of America has no moral right to ask other countries to open their political process while keeping its political process closed to the people.
