Diego Maradona: A Reflection

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-02-07 - 21:31:48

Before writing about Diego Maradona, one has to examine every aspect of his life regardless of whether they were good, bad, or ugly. It cannot be denied that he is one of the greatest football [soccer] players but there have been better especially when he admitted that in the "Hand of God" goal he used his hands [which is a violation of FIFA Rules] to score a goal. His behaviour towards Pele receiving a FIFA Award with FIFA offering two different awards [one for Pele and one for Maradona] is an example of an individual with an inflated ego.

Diego Maradona was born in a shanty town called Villa Florito in Buenos Aires Argentina in 1960. Early in his life, he was able to show great aptitude with the football [soccer] ball. He was spotted by a talent scout at the age of 11 and was signed with a club called Los Cebollitos which was a Junior Team of the Argentino Juniors. He played for other teams such as Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla, Newell's Old Boys, and Boca Juniors before retiring in 1997. During his professional period, he scored 311 goals in 590 appearances. He also scored some controversy by charging for interviews, fighting with promoters, and experimenting with cocaine.

It was this experimentation with cocaine that tarnished his image in football [soccer] at least in my opinion. [I could still remember living in Venezuela when I saw the 1978 World Cup of Argentina on Cable TV or hearing it in Shortwave Radio. Diego Maradona at the time did a commercial telling the youths of Latin America and the Latin Population in North America to stay away from drugs. Hearing Diego Maradona advising people to stay away from drugs and then doing cocaine made me remove him from my list of favourite football [soccer] players.

Diego Maradona also played for the Argentine National Team from 1977 to 1994 where he scored 34 goals in 91 appearances. He was also the manager of the Argentine Teams of Mandiyu de Corrientes and Racing Club of Argentina. He played in four World Cups but it was the 1986 World Cup that generated controversy. In one instance, Maradona used his hand to score a goal and told his fellow players: "Start Congratulating me or the referees will not allow it". He admitted later in a TV interview that the "Hand of God" helped with the goal although he later confessed that "The Hand of God" was a trick.

In addition to his drug problem, he once suffered a near heart attack while dancing with the Chilean Talk Show Cecilia Bollocco. He has also been treated in Cuba for his drug problem and admitted to having a tattoo of Castro and Ernesto Guevara. The only good thing he did was criticize Bush by calling him "trash". Another good thing he did was allow himself to be interviewed by Press TV in which he dedicated one of his shirts to the Iranian Nation.

Diego Maradona was also the center of many documentaries and was also one of the founders of the "Church of Maradona" which was his version of the Transcendental Meditation Movement [I admit it was a little comic]. Diego Maradona once even fired a rifle into the air against reporters for "invading his privacy".

Maradona was also the center of many musicians’ successful hits. An Argentine Rock Group called Los Piojos [The Lice] dedicated two songs to him in their albums. Mano Negra [Black Hand] released a song called "Santa Maradona" in their album "Casa Babylon". The Alternative Band from Long Island called Brand New released a song with the title: "Me Vs. Maradona Vs. Elvis" on their 2003 Album Deja Entendu. Another group Manu Chao dedicated "La Vida Tombola" from their album "La Radiolina" to Maradona. Los Cafres added themselves to dedicating a song to Maradona called Capitan Pelusa [Captain Fuzz].

Maradona received many awards which should have been returned to FIFA such as the 1986 United Press International Athlete of the Year, the 1986 Olimpia de Oro, the 1986 FIFA World Cup Silver Boot, the 1986 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball for his hand goal and any awards received after 1986. The awards that Maradona received from his own merit have been the 1979 and 1980 South American Footballer of the Year, the 1979 75th FIFA Anniversary Cup, and the 1979 Olympia de Oro as well as other awards too numerous to mention before 1986.

Maradona lived a controversial lifestyle and was a football [soccer] player. Maradona also was an individual who may have had his last laughs in life but I would not want to be in his position the day he goes before God or any Superior Deity and has to explain what he did with his life. The trophies and other accolades will be worthless when he has to explain himself. But again I cannot be the judge. All I wanted to do was write a biography that included all of the spheres of this most talked about personality who could have done great things for football [soccer], could have had a family, but threw everything away with his attitude, and behaviour.

Kosovos Stimulates Independence Movements within America

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-02-07 - 19:48:54

There was a time in which big countries were better and that any attempts at Independence from Smaller Countries or Entities would result in disaster or bring about the dissolution of the home country. Yet current events like what is occurring in Kosovo proves that there are times when smaller entities may have to find a way towards independence. There are places that are less well known yet they want to become independent. In order to understand the phenomenon which was initiated by the dissolution of the Cold War Blocs [which included the independence of Montenegro and the impending independence of Kosovo], it would serve the interest of the reader to examine areas that want self rule. One of these areas is the American Continent

In the American Continent, there are many entities that are seeking self rule and/or independence as a way of preserving their national identity. They are looking at the events in Kosovo and elsewhere. One example is Quebec which is French Speaking and has a fear of being encircled and eventually absorbed by the English Speaking areas around it. There are people in Quebec who believe that Independence is the way to be self sufficient economically, politically, and to be able to maintain the French Identity of Quebec.

For the people in the United States of America who are feeling threatened by the rising Latin Community and have the nerve to make false accusations about the death of the USA by the Latin Community had better take a look at what is happening in the USA. Of course, the event is occurring in English in majority of cases. Vermont, Hawaii, Alaska, Texas, South Carolina, Ohio, Michigan, and the Pacific Northwest of Washington and Oregon want their independence. Vermont with the Movement for the Second Republic of Vermont and Vermont Commons are educating the people of Vermont on the need for independence in the face of an Administration and Oligarchy in Washington DC that is full of ideologues and warmongers. Ohio has a movement called the Ohio Republic, Texas has the Free Texas Movement with the radio station in the internet Radio Free Texas, and South Carolina wants a Christian Republic. Hawaii wants the restoration of the Kingdom of Hawaii for the indigenous people, Alaska wants to be free from Washington, and Michigan wants to determine its own destiny. Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia wants to unite and form the nation of Cascadia.

There are more movements such as the Nation of Aztlan [who are Mexican Americans who dream of forming their own state on the border with Mexico using territory that was taken from Mexico during the Mexican War of the 1840's]. The African American Revolutionary People's Party was an organization in Ohio that wanted an African American Communist Republic in Ohio. One area went further with Lakota Oyate declaring independence from the USA. Lakota Oyate is the area of the Lakota Tribe where North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Wyoming are located. Lakota Oyate declared its treaty with the USA null and void and are trying to consolidate their independence. They appear to have received their inspiration from Kosovo. No wonder that the Republicans and Democrats in Washington are opposed to Kosovo's Independence.

Bolivia is also receiving a breath of fresh air from Kosovo. The Province of Santa Cruz [one of the richest in Bolivia] is in the process or declared its independence from Bolivia in order to protest against Evo Morales attempting to take more power in his hands. One of the leaders of Santa Cruz said that he was moved toward independence after he saw segments of the New Constituent Assembly in which one of the members said "Vote for Morales or you are Santa Cruz" and then decapitating a dog saying "This dog is from Santa Cruz". Only time will tell what will happen if Kosovo arrives at the American Continent. It is surreal that Evo Morales support Independence Movements in Spain [Galicia, Basque Country, and Catalonia] and he is facing Santa Cruz in its desire for independence.

Mexico 2-2 EEUU/ Mexico 2-2 USA

ETERNORIVAL1ETERNORIVAL2

ETERNAL RIVALS

I am watching the Soccer Match between the USA and Mexico via my computer on Univision.com. The programme starts with Univision Personalities Barbara Bermudo and Fernando Fiore talking about the game followed by reports from Ivan Kasansew, There was also an announcer telling people to stay tuned to the computer so that they could see the game. Afterwards, the national anthems were played and the game began

First Half

It appeared that Mexico had the advantage of the people in Houston Texas who were seeing the game which left the US Team disconcerted. I myself was asking the question: “Where are the USA Supporters”. Without knowing it, I saw a group of people chanting “USA USA USA” with Oguchi Oyenwu, Bocanegra, and Donovan securing the ball and checking for weak spots in the Mexican Team. I was wandering what is happening and I asked God for a miracle. After thinking about a miracle, Oguchi Oyenwu used his head to score the first goal of the game. I thought that the USA might have dominated the game but I was wrong.

Mexico’s Magallon also known as the Man of Iron scored an equalizer for Mexico and applied pressure on the USA. In one instance, Bocanegra and Howard crashed against each others head while Howard was feeling the pressure from the Mexican Team. Salcido of the Mexican Team unfairly received a yellow card while Houston receives an electric charge with this exciting first half. Altidore received the isnpiration from Oyenwu and used his head to score a second goal. After Altidore, there was a third goal but the referee lifted a flag and cancelled the goal. This was unfair and after the replay, it was confirmed that the referee acted in bad faith. But the damage was done. The first half ended with the USA winning 2-1 against Mexico.

Halftime

Aside from the Toyota and Soap Opera Commercials, there were interviews with the players from the US and Mexican Teams which were prerecorded.

Second Half

The Second Half starts with an equalizer by Magallon for Mexico and the game is becoming electrically charged with supporters of both teams screaming for their country. I am also moving my legs as a nervous gesture associated with this game. The USA and Mexico are fighting to the death. The tension is high with Howard fighting one of the Mexican Players. I do not understand why the referees did not see this. When there is an act of aggression, the referees have to punish with a red card or expulsion. This was not the case.

In times of desperation, I am seeing the USA and Mexico changing their players within the second half in order to break the equalizer. My legs are moving rapidly in a state of frenzy and worry. I am also worried because I am having problems with the reception in the computer but it was the transmission satellite. I am also angry since the referees unfairly booked Oguchi Oyenwu. With fifteen minutes remaining, the game remains 2-2. The same applies with eight minutes remaining. There is still USA 2-2 Mexico with three minutes remaining. The USA and Mexico remain tied at 2-2.

USA 2-2 Mexico

USA: 5/10
Mexico: 5/10

MARIA LOURDES “SIN GENERO” SEGUNDA PARTE

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-02-07 - 01:11:13

FROM THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY:
Libertarian Party sends condolences to the Republican National Committee

With the rise of John McCain, LP offers sympathy for the death of small-government values within the GOP

Quick Quotes:
Andrew Davis, National Media Coordinator, Libertarian Party
• "We simply felt the need to express our heartfelt sympathy for the Republican Party as they undergo this tough time within their party."

Shane Cory, Executive Director, Libertarian Party
• "McCain's Super Tuesday win marks the death of limited government values within the Republican Party, which had struggled with its principles throughout the Bush administration."

Washington, D.C. - Following a solid McCain victory in the Super Tuesday primaries, the Libertarian Party has sent Republican headquarters a funeral wreath marking the death of limited-government values within the Republican Party. The wreath was hand-delivered to the D.C. offices of the Republican National Committee. "We simply felt the need to express our heartfelt sympathy for the Republican Party as they undergo this tough time within their party," says Libertarian Party National Media Coordinator Andrew Davis, who delivered the wreath.

"Given that it has become readily apparent that Senator McCain will soon be the presidential nominee for the Republican Party," reads a card that accompanied the wreath addressed to RNC Chairman Mike Duncan, "we, the staff of the Libertarian National Committee, send our condolences to you upon the death of small-government principles within the GOP."

The note continues:

Libertarians encourage competition within both the free-market and politics. Unfortunately, with the rise of John McCain and the big-spending practices of the Bush administration, the two-party system has emerged as representing only one philosophy - big-government liberalism.

With your loss, the Libertarian Party will continue to move forward to represent those American patriots who still believe in smaller government, lower taxes and more individual freedom.

"McCain's Super Tuesday win marks the death of limited government values within the Republican Party, which had struggled with its principles throughout the Bush administration," says Shane Cory, executive director of the Libertarian Party. "It is a day of mourning for the few remaining small-government Republicans."

The Libertarian Party is America's third largest political party, founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. You can find more information on the Libertarian Party by visiting www.lp.org. The Libertarian Party proudly stands for smaller government, lower taxes and more freedom.
