USA Womens Football Team Goes to Portuguese Finals

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-03-10 - 20:32:32

The USA [United States of America] played Norway in order to advance to the Algarve Cup after defeating China and Italy. The second half was more exciting than the first half. The results was that the USA advanced to its Sixth Algarve Cup Final by playing against Denmark on the 12th of March 2008. The position of Norway was 4-3-3 compared to the United States of America which was 4-2-2.

The First Half of the game appeared to be a battle for possession of the ball and game with people guessing who will score first or will their be a draw. It was in the interest in the United States to either win or draw in order to advance to the finals. It did not appear that the United States was playing until it received an equivalent of en electric shock with the booking of Carli Lloyd for a foul against Norway within the 31st minute of the game. It was after the booking that the USA should what it was made of and grabbed possession of the game until the end.

The Second Half of the Game was filled with substitutions on both sides and never ending goals by Natasha Kai at 55 minutes and without assistance. Abby Wambach with the assistance of Carli Lloyd scored the second goal at 57 minutes. It appeared that Carli Lloyd wanted revenge for her booking in the first half and was able to receive justice. The United States Women’s Soccer [Football] Team continued rolling like a tank that was flattening trees with Heather O’ Reilly scoring a third goal at 65 minutes with a little help from Leslie Osborne.

The Last Twenty Five Minutes was not the time to rest but to continue onward and not looking back. Finally around 90 Minutes, the hopes of Norway to advance in the Algarve Cup were dashed as Amy Rodriguez with the help of Abby Wambach scored the fourth and final goal of this game. My best wishes to the United States Women’s Soccer [Football] Team in advancing to the Algarve Cup Final.

On a final note, three hundred people attended this event in Restinga Stadium in Alvor, Portugal and Abby Wambach deserves to be named Player of this Game for her efforts in securing the victory of the United States over Norway. It remains to be seen what will happen between the United States of America and Denmark.

USA 4-0 Norway
USA: 10/10
Norway: 0/10

Nelson on FCC

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-03-10 - 19:20:01

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns about media ownership. Like you, I want to preserve diversity in broadcast media and oppose additional media consolidation.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is examining certain proposals that may result in a further relaxation of the rules governing broadcast media ownership. I am concerned that any further relaxation of the ownership limits would allow large media companies to dominate the market, thus discouraging diversity and harming localism.

On October 24, 2007, I sent a letter, which was cosigned by Senator Snowe, to FCC Chairman Kevin Martin expressing concern over his comments in the press indicating that he intended to expedite a rule-making to relax or repeal many of the FCC's current media ownership rules.

I am also an original cosponsor of the bipartisan Media Ownership Act of 2007 (S. 2332), which was introduced by Senators Dorgan and Lott on November 8, 2007. This legislation would require the FCC to finish long-pending proceedings on localism and diversity in broadcast media before moving forward with any new ownership rules. After those proceedings are completed, the bill also would require a 90-day period for public review and comment on any new national media ownership rules prior to their adoption by the FCC.

As a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over the communications industry, I have voted for S. 2332 and will continue to monitor this issue closely. I appreciate your sharing your thoughts with me. Your views help me to serve you better in the Senate.

OBSIDIANA PRESS & PEDRO PABLO PEREZ SANTIESTEBAN

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-03-10 - 16:32:20
