THAKSIN AND ERIKSSON

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-16 - 15:08:02

THAKSIN AND ERIKSSON

It has come to the attention of the football world that Thaksin Shinawatra is not happy with the current Manchester City Season and wants to replace Eriksson with Scolari. Thaksin Shinawatra has replied by saying: “I do not know Scolari”

While Thaksin Shinawatra was not as we feared with regards to Manchester City, he should remember that Sven Goren Eriksson came to Manchester City as the club was being threatened with relegation in the previous season. Even though Manchester City has slipped to eighth place after a great start to the season, it would be a mistake if Thaksin Shinawatra were to remove Sven Goren Eriksson.

Sven Goren Eriksson may not be a miracle worker but he possesses intricate knowledge of English Football and has been an asset to England and Manchester City. I took the liberty to conduct a poll concerning Thaksin Shinawatra, Sven Goren Eriksson, and Manchester City. The results of the poll revealed that seventy seven percent of the people surveyed want Sven Goren Eriksson to remain as Manager of Manchester City compared with twelve percent who think that this is a publicity stunt, and eleven percent who favours his removal. It would be a grave mistake for Thaksin Shinawatra to decide that he could just simply ignore the wishes of seventy seven percent of the people of Manchester City [according to this recent poll]. If Thaksin Shinawatra wants to do Manchester City a favour, he would keep Sven Goren Eriksson as Manager and bring new players. Thaksin Shinawatra has the money so he can afford the players.

While I was opposed to Thaksin Shinawatra purchasing Manchester City, I was willing to give him a chance. It seemed that everything was great especially when he declared [upon his visit to Thailand] that he will concentrate on family, charity, and Manchester City. The news [regardless of whether it is true or not] has just reinforced my attitude towards Thaksin Shinawatra. The fact that he never responded to requests for interviews just reinforces the attitude. While football [soccer] has been looked upon as a money making machine, the human factor of how a team functions must be taken into consideration. Thaksin Shinawatra has just simply proved [if he fires Eriksson] that he could care less about the team and wants immediate results. It is not too late for Manchester City to wake up and see this reality.

George Phillies: Vacuum Cleaners and Taxes

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-16 - 14:20:22

George Phillies for President 2008

The Vacuum Cleaners -- a Lesson on Taxes
Worcester, Mass., April 15: A short comment on vacuum cleaners and taxes from Libertarian Presidential candidate George Phillies:
"I still have the brush-type vacuum cleaner my mother gave me 40 years ago. It's had several replacement parts, but it runs well. I also have an all-vacuum hose cleaner, not to mention my little floor brushing robot. They run in very different ways, but they have one thing in common: They're all vacuum cleaners. They all transfer dust from the floor to a holder.
"Your federal taxes are a lot like my vacuum cleaners. They run on very different principles, but they all do the same thing: They transfer money from your wallet to the Treasury. The fine details may differ, but in the end every tax leaves you with less money in your wallet.
"We've all heard vacuum spin artists who want to sell you new and different vacuum cleaners. Their spiritual relatives, the tax spin artists, want to sell you new and different taxes. None of the tax spinners talk about the worst tax of all. That's the grandchild tax, under which we spend the money, and our grandchildren get to pay our bills.
"It's always easier to make new taxes sound simpler than old taxes. After all, lobbyists and irate taxpayers concentrate their interests on adjusting real taxes, not on inserting special rules into taxes that don't exist. But once a real tax has been legislated, you can be certain that lobbyists will be hard at work persuading Congress to adjust the rules to benefit beekeepers or computer programmers or accountants--and I'm only listing professions of a few friends.
"The spin artists won't tell you one thing: Change for the sake of change hurts large numbers of fellow Americans. If we eliminate capital loss deductions, Americans who liquidated stock holdings-- holdings they might otherwise have kept without our tax laws -- will be forced to eat their losses. If we change the income tax into a value added tax, every American who put after-tax money into a Roth IRA will now have their money taxed again, to their great personal loss.
"The tax reform that will actually help most Americans is the reform in how taxes are spent. When Uncle Sam spends less money, and therefore stops borrowing money to bloat the national debt, every American will benefit.

Alaskan DJ's Insult Alaska Native Women

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-16 - 14:18:49

Alaskan Shock Jocks Suspended After Insulting Alaska Native Women

Woody and Wilcox of radio station KBFX in Anchorage Alaska were suspended by the station after insulting Alaska Native Women. It was during their programme dedicated to what constitutes an Alaska Native in which Woody and Wilcox stated that “A Real Alaskan would make Love to the Yukon River and Urinate on an Alaska Native”. While KBFX apologized and announced that Woody and Wilcox will undergo sensitivity training, the State Government of Alaska and the FCC are looking into the matter which has been seen as far worse than the comments by Don Imus.

More Arrests in Zimbabwe

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-16 - 14:18:05

The Government of Zimbabwe has arrested more than 50 MDC Sympathizers after the strike and has acquitted Barry Bearak of the New York Times and British Freelance Reporter Stephan Bevan. Meanwhile, MDC General Secretary Tendai Biti reported the death of two activists and the hospitalization of more than 200 secondary to being assaulted by ZANU-PF [Mugabe] Militias. France, Great Britain, and the United States want to discuss the Zimbabwe Situation before the UN in a special session concerning Africa. Unfortunately, the Special Chairperson of the session is the South African President Mbeki who refuses to discuss Zimbabwe in spite of pressure from his ruling ANC [African National Congress] Party.

CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER STRONGLY CONDEMNS VIOLENCE IN FOOTBALL STADIUMS AND SCHOOLS

Belgrade, 16 April 2008 - His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II issued a statement today regarding the death of 26 year old Dejan Dimitrijevic who was shot dead by rival football fans.

"I was shocked when I heard the news that another young life, the most precious resource we have, was lost. Recently, one of our pupils died after he was stabbed to death in front of the schoolyard. I strongly condemn violence of any kind. I am also very concerned that there is an increase of felonies committed by youth in our society. I know we have suffered so much as a society, but there is no justification for violence.

We must have tolerance, whether it is in the political arena, in schools, or in football stadiums. We can not afford to lose the lives of our young people anymore", concluded the Crown Prince
