BATTALLA EN “STAMFORD BRIDGE”

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-28 - 14:41:21

Battle At Stamford Bridge?

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-28 - 13:45:43

After the Chelsea VS Manchester United game in which Chelsea emerged victorious, three Manchester United Players were recovering from their loss when the staff at Chelsea told to recover elsewhere. The result was a scuffle between the Chelsea Staff and the three Manchester United Players.

While I understand the intense rivalry that exists between Chelsea and Manchester United [as well as the fact that I support both teams], it is unfair to both teams and to football that rivalries can spark into scuffles. It would be better if both teams investigated the footage that they have before making any judgment calls and find a way to resolve this situation. It would also be great if Chelsea and Manchester United were to cooperate with the FA to resolve the incident between Chelsea and three Manchester United Players.

When there are acts of violence in football off or on the field, it constitutes a blemish on both teams and on football as a whole. If I was a judge who had to rule on this latest travesty of our beloved sport, I would have examined all of the evidence. After examining the evidence, I would have punished the people who were involved without having to punish the teams involved. The punishment that I would have given would have been a one game suspension for the Manchester United Players and a one week suspension for the Chelsea Staff [without pay] that were involved in the scuffle followed by a warning. I would do this because I love football. I love football to the point that I attack the cancers that want to give it a bad name whether it is a minor fight, a major fight, or even acts of hooliganism regardless of who started these acts. Football should say no to violence of any kind on or off the field.

I would like to congratulate Rio Ferdinand for his apology to the female steward after accidentally kicking her after the penalty winner by Ballack. I am also glad that the female steward accepted his apology [and the flowers] and forgave him. Rio Ferdinand deserves my praise for his action and his action has done more to prove that there is good as well as bad in football. It was a pity that the press did not put emphasis on this good deed but concentrated on the negative aspect of the game between Chelsea and Manchester United.
