Zimbabwe and the UN

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 23:50:11

According to the BBC News Website, the MDC and other opposition groups has asked for the United Nations to intervene in Zimbabwe. The opposition has talked about the failure of African Diplomacy. Meanwhile the United Nations Security Council has asked for the release of the results of the Presidential Elections and ZANU-PF [Mugabe] Deputy Information Minister Bright Matonga dismissed the suggestion of ZANU-PF [Mugabe] Ambassador to the United Nations Boniface Chidyausiku of a National Unity Government. Mr. Mutonga said that the priority of ZANU-PF [Mugabe] is to win the Elections and govern as ZANU-PF [Mugabe] without "agents" and "sell outs" such as Tsvangerai.

Not even animals have escaped the cruelty of the Zimbabwe Conflict. PETA and other Animal Rights Groups have condemned the cruelty to animals at Friedwall Farm after employees of Edwin Mashiringwani [Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe] took over the farm from its white owners. The employees of the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe have refused to feed 4,000 pigs, 15,000 crocodiles, and a number of cows. The Vice President of the CFU [Commercial Farmers Union] Deon Theron was evicted from his farm while the President of the CFU Trevor Gifford barricaded himself in his house and is trying to avoid eviction.

In Tshovani Township near Chiredzi, the people were shouting: "Mugabe Must Go". The agony continues.

More on Zimbabwe

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 19:32:02

Police in Zimbabwe freed more than 180 activists after they were detained for four days without being formally charged. At the same time, Human Rights Group inside the country accused the Mugabe Government of inciting violence with the intention of interfering with the possible run off electoral process.

There were reports of two bodies of MDC Supporters found after being abducted in Masvingo while an anonymous contributor from the BBC in the town of Mutare reported that MDC Supporters are assaulting ZANU-PF [Mugabe] Supporters by burning one of their bases in Odzi [a suburb of Mutare].

In other developments:

1. The UN Security Council is due to receive a report on the deteriorating situation in Zimbabwe.

2. European Union Foreign Ministers are calling for a total ban on arms to Zimbabwe [despite the fact that it was reported in Zimbabwe Situation that Malawi wants to ship arms to Zimbabwe].

3. According to reports from a teachers union, there are teachers who are running away from rural areas after being accused of being MDC Sympathizers.

4. The Zimbabwean Ambassador to the UN is repeating the proposal by the Herald [Mugabe] of a National Unity Government.

5. ZBC [Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation] reported that the Presidential Results may be released on the 1st of May 2008. The 1st of May 2008 was the date [according to the Zimbabwe Situation] that a massacre would be started.

6. George Charamba [the Mugabe Envoy who according to the Zimbabwe Situation was going to reeducate people how to vote] said that "force would be used to prevent anarchy".

7. ZANU-PF Militants attacked Catherine Mukwenje and gouged one of her eyes before killing her. [She was one of the MDC Supporters who was abducted and killed]

8. Zvidsai Mapurisa [the other MDC Supporter abducted and killed] was tortured by ZANU-PF Militants before being killed.

9. The same anonymous BBC Contributor reported on violent battles in the Sakubva District of Mutare.

It is hoped that this story receives maximum publicity before it is too late.

Chelsea in Malaysia

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 18:55:40

WARNING: I WROTE THIS AS A WAY TO SEPARATE SPORTS FROM POLITICS

On the month of July 2008, the English Football [Soccer] team Chelsea will visit Malaysia. For some people, there would be a wish of good luck for Chelsea especially since they received permission from the authorities to visit Malaysia. The only problem is that Avram Grant [who is the coach of Chelsea] and Tal Ben Haim [a midfielder for Chelsea] are citizens of Israel. Israel and Malaysia do not have diplomatic relations and Malaysian citizens cannot travel to Israel. The Malay Muslim Majority are in favour of the Palestinians with twenty one Islamic Groups uniting to call for a boycott of the Chelsea Exhibition Games. There are plans for a demonstration when Chelsea plays in Malaysia on the twenty ninth of July 2008.

Personally, the Arab Israeli Conflict is none of my business. I would prefer to concentrate on the sport portion of the Chelsea visit and to say that Sports [as well as Music and Religion] should be separated from Politics. If people want to see Chelsea play in Malaysia, they should be allowed to see Chelsea. No boycott of a sports events have ever hurt or benefitted the people for which it was intended. The losers of a political boycott of any sports events whether it be a big or small event would be the football [soccer] players and the spectators. What does it take to convince people not to use sports as a vehicle for politics or to promote political agendas? If a person loves football [soccer] and wants to watch a game or participate in it should be allowed to do so. What about the people who are paid to play football [soccer] so that they could have food and a roof over their familie's head? Do they count for anything? It appears that they do not.

It would also be terrible if Chelsea were to succumb to pressure and cancel their visit to Malaysia just simply because of threats of boycott and other threats by people who use football [soccer] as a political agenda. It is hoped that a resolution could be found as early as possible to this dilmemna that Chelsea has to face when it goes to Asia. Manchester United had problems when it played in Malaysia and they solved it without having to cancel their trip.

War Crimes of Republicans and Democrats

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 18:53:35

The Republicans and Democratic Leadership have set the stage for a Stock Market Crash in 2008 and a civil war based on ethnicity, religion, race, and party lines. There is also the possibility that the Republicans and Democrats have also set the stage for the dissolution of America in cooperation with the people of Wall Street.

There have been many factors such as the crisis in Citigroup, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, and Merrill Lynch with their financial problems, dubious lending practices, and renegotiating loans under dubious conditions. Even with the government regulating the commerce, the situation was going to go from bad to worse.

The Government under the Republicans and Democrats with their desire for power for everything have also prepared the stage for a Stock Crash in 2008. The Government has interfered in the lives of people with the Patriot Act and the Immigration Laws. The Republicans and Democrats have also interfered with economic transactions with their laws of Homeland Security and forcing people [including United States Nationals] to show their passports at border crossings. Many people who have the means to do so are leaving the USA and taking their money with them.

The Republicans and Democrats have also bankrupted the United States with a War In Iraq and a War Against Terrorism while victims of Katrina have lost their homes and properties.

The solutions are many but there has to be a start:

1. The Green Party of the United States [as well as Congressman Wexler, and Gutierrez] have initiated procedures of impeachment against Bush and Cheney. It is hoped that Bush and Cheney as well as the rest of the Republicans and Democrats are removed peacefully from power via impeachment before the 2008 Elections. The replacement should be a Government of National Concentration which would be in power and oversee the 2008 Elections.

2. The Electoral College, Primaries, and Caucuses should be abolished in favour of direct elections in which Libertarians, Greens and other peace loving parties are campaigning [instead of the Republicans, Democrats, Communists, and Nazis who should be forced to do the work of undocumented workers or as some people in America say: "illegal aliens"].

3. A Libertarian Government which stresses individuality, term limits, responsibility, transparency.

4. Privatisation of ALL Government Enterprises including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. Whatever money collected for these programmes can be returned to those who paid originally so they could invest it in what is convenient. Get Government off the backs of people and companies.

5. Abolition of the Federal Reserve Board in favour of regional banks and a Gold/Silver Standard.

6. Arrest those responsible for the Economic Mess and if found guilty, punish them by making them do the work of undocumented workers.

US Mainstream Meda: Get Real

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 18:51:15

In an era in which the mainstream media limits coverage of important events and are biased, it is important that bloggers and citizen journalists start the struggle to obtain credentials to cover Congress. The reason is that a blogger or a citizen journalist can cover areas of Congress such as the budget committee that are rarely mentioned except with the blessing of the mainstream media. Bloggers and Citizen Journalists present an alternative that is refreshing to the dull and unobjective coverage of the mainstream media. Many people who criticize bloggers and citizen journalists forget that there may have been announcers or members of the mainstream media who got their start in pirate stations [those radio and TV Stations] that did not have a license before studying journalism.

Another reason for the need of credentials for Bloggers and Citizen Journalists to report on the activities of Congress lies in the fact that the United States of America was founded on the basis of a free press. A free press is based on the number of newspapers, radio, and television stations as well as blogs and webpages covering a certain topic. In addition to Freedom of the Press, the right of the people to be informed about the activities of Congress and other spheres of government is more the reason for bloggers and citizen journalists to receive credentials and be on an equal standing with those of the mainstream media with their multimillion dollar empire covering the activities of Congress such as the discussion of a law on immigration, the budget, health care, and even the fact that an Act of Congress will mandate the replacement of analogue transmission with digital transmissions.

It is for this reason and much more that we should have equal opportunities for bloggers and citizen journalists. For those who want to say that actually bloggers and citizen journalists are just cluttering space, my response [as a blogger and a citizen journalist] is that free press and free speech means facing the competition. This is something that the mainstream media did not face until the advent of the digital age.

For Republicans and Democrats

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 18:50:04

When a Government uses secrecy for the so called benefit of the governed, the only people who are hurt are the governed. I am also including those who have said that they are willing to sacrifice their freedom for security. Governmental Secrecy harms us in that we are not aware of the dangers that we as a nation has to face. Governmental Secrecy harms us in a way that we are subject to the arbitrariness of a government who is hiding things from the people. What about those who are detained for no apparent reason? I doubt that the people who are detained arbitrarily because of the violation of some law approved in secret by the government will ever get due justice.

We do not have to go far when we talk about how governmental secrecy harms the people. In 1994, the people of Rwanda [with the exception of certain members of the governing elite] were kept in the dark about a shipment of machetes and guns. What was the end result? A genocide that surprised the world and the people of Rwanda who were unable to defend themselves against those who knew ahead of time [with the blessing of certain elements of the governing elite and their supporters in France and Belgium] about the one hundred days of genocide which was planned in advance and took place after the death of the Presidents of Rwanda and Burundi in 1994. This is a cardinal reason why governmental secrecy has not made the governed feel safer.

There have been other examples of how governmental secrecy has made us vulnerable because of lack of information and lies. One of the examples is where the tax money of New Yorkers went during the Spitzer Era. Who cannot remember that Eliot Spitzer was forced to resign as Governor of New York after utilizing the services of a prostitute? Eliot Spitzer was supposed to be Mr. Clean but he ran up an extremely high bill for the use of the services of a prostitute. Where did the money come from? Did the money come from the New Yorkers who have to pay exhorbitant taxes to the State of New York? It is hoped that Spitzer did not use Public Money for his date with the prostitute. The best government is one that does not keep secrets but tells us the truth and is transparent.

Malawi and Zimbabwe

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 16:49:27

29-April-2008: According to the Zimbabwe Situation and Nyasa Times of Malawi, the Government of Malawi sent four people: Clement Kapalamula [Head of Secret Intelligence Services], Mr. George Masinga [Acting Director of Foreign Relations], and Mr. Matanga to Angola to see if they could transport the arms in the boat An Yie Jiang from Angola to Zimbabwe. They are acting with the blessing of the President of Malawi Bingu Mutharika who is a supporter of Mugabe. Meanwhile, there have been reports by the Times Correspondent in Murewa of the Zimbabwe Health Ministry and certain Health Care Professionals collaborating with ZANU-PF [Mugabe] in the raids on hospitals against patients who are with the MDC.

Eriksson Despedido Como Tecnico de Manchester City

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 16:25:04

Corrupt Ex Thai Prime Minister Sacks Eriksson

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 14:00:03

I have just finished reading the BBC Sports Webpage which announced that Ex Thai Prime Minister and Current Owner of Manchester City Thaksin Shinawatra has told Sven Goren Eriksson that “he is not the right man to coach Manchester City”. The news was the equivalent of a volcano exploding with rage in my head.

Jesus Christ once said: “He is who is without sin, cast the first stone”. Sven Goren Eriksson has been the right man to coach in England especially Manchester City. He has been able to rebuild a team and probably save it from relegation. Sven Goren Eriksson has also been great when he was Coach of the English National Team. Thaksin Shinawatra cannot comment on Sven Goren Eriksson’s performance as Coach when he was not in contact with him during the second half of the season. Eriksson wanted to sign new players but had to wait for Thaksin’s Approval which never came. Sven Goren Eriksson is a kind and decent man compared to Thaksin Shinawatra.

In my opinion, Thaksin Shinawatra was never the right man to own Manchester City. He just simply the right man for one thing only and that is money. Thaksin Shinawatra is money making machine but he is also an individual of dubious character who made his money by stealing from his country. His contract with Sven Goren Eriksson was for five years under the condition that Manchester City remains in the top ten at the end of the 2007-2008 seasons. Manchester City is currently in ninth place with fifty five points and can still remain within the top ten. It appears that not only money is involved but the fact that Thaksin Shinawatra may have been jealous or envious of a person like Sven Goren Eriksson. The jealousy and envy can explain that there was no contact between the two during the second half of the season except for Thaksin Shinawatra to tell Eriksson that he will no longer coach Manchester City and the contract. Thaksin Shinawatra knows nothing about football and less about governing a country.

A poll of five hundred and forty two people was taken and one hundred percent believe that Sven Goren Eriksson should have remained as coach while Thaksin Shinawatra should have been removed as owner of Manchester City and deported to Thailand to face criminal charges [although that will never happen]. It remains to be seen what will transpire but Manchester City Supporters should protest this decision by a Corrupt Ex Prime Minister of Thailand who treats their club like a personal toy.

Zimbabwe Crackdown Planned for 1st-May-2008?

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 01:55:52

According to reports from Radio SW Africa written by Lance Guma, ZANU-PF [Mugabe] is planning a crackdown against MDC Members in Matabeleland, Mashonaland, Masvinga, and Manicaland according to secret documents that were leaked. The Matoboland District of Matabeleland South will be the first to affected by the crackdown.

In an article by Raymond Mhaka of the Zimbabwe Metro, On the day of election, George Charamba had stated that "Tsvangerai had 50% of the vote to avoid a runoff and the results were rigged and needed to be corrected". The following was taken from the Zimbabwe Metro and The Herald [ZANU-PF: Mugabe] as stated by George Charamba: "Quite a clever posture, if you ask me. But never important enough to decide who governs Zimbabwe after those 21 days. What does is whoever rouses the sleeping vote which materially is a Zanu-PF vote. The MDC knows this, and so does the British. Which is why there was a bit of desperation to stampede both Government and ZEC into announcing faulty results that would have rigged Tsvangirai into an outright win. Or triggering civil unrest to open the way for international mediation which would have handed power over to Tsvangirai. ‘

At the Present Rate, America has no future

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 01:31:57

The United States of America at one time was a republic and a democracy but thanks to limited media ownership, it is a nominal republic and a nominal democracy. For a Republic and A Democracy to take hold, there should be more media and a diversified media ownership. The internet and mediums like Helium are great because of their promotion of this greater democracy unlike the mainstream media like CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, Knight Ridder, Gannett, and Bloomberg that holds the monopoly on and dictates what should be published or what should be broadcast if the price is right. It is surreal that the United States of America loves to promote its version of democracy, freedom, and the republic to the world yet the governing elite called the Republicans and Democrats repress the Libertarians and Greens throuugh the ballot box and their dominance in the media.

How can the United States of America flourish as a Republic and a Democracy if the Mainstream Media only shows Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and John Mc Cain as the Only Contenders for the Presidency of the United States? How can the United States of America flourish as a Republic and a Democracy if the Mainstream Media and its very few owners allow the Republicans and Democrats to monopolize the political landscape in America? How can the United States of America have free and fair elections when the mainstream media and its owners which constitute a monopoly already treat the electoral process as a tragic comic soap opera so that the "big guys" can have their ratings? In fact, most people in the United States do not know that the Libertarian Party exists and that there are candidates of the Libertarian Party for President of the United States whose names are George Phillies, Imperato, Wayne Root Smith, and Jingozian?

The attitude of the very few who control the media and the lack of confidence in the Mainstream Media in the United States may one day come back to haunt the Elite called Republicans and Democrats. It will also come to haunt the United States Mainstream Media as the years wear on. It would be hoped that the people of the United States of America would be tired of these charades and vote Libertarian or Green. But I am thinking that the United States of America [if there is no Libertarian or Green Government with transparency in the Government and the Mainstream Media] may one day go the way of the Roman Empire. The fall of the United States of America thanks to the Mainstream Media and the Owners who monopolize the media may come sooner or later if there is no improvement.

For The Liberty and Democracy Party in Australia

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 01:25:57

After reading the article by Sukrit Sabhlok at Helium and visiting the web page of the Liberty and Democracy Party of Australia, I have decided to write about the emergence of a Libertarian Party in Australia. It is also refreshing that the Liberty and Democracy Party represents the same Libertarian Principles as espoused by the Libertarian Party in the United States and Movimiento Libertario in Costa Rica. While the Liberty and Democracy Party has grown since its inception in 2001, it would have to begin an education campaign about what is a Libertarian and the difference between a Libertarian and the rest of the Non Libertarians. Another thing has happened which is the concept of a Free State Project.

The Free State Project was started in the United States of America by a group of Libertarians who wanted to be the founders of a new type of society within the laws governing America but at the same time espousing Libertarian Beliefs. First and foremost, the founders of the Free State Project had to decide which state would best fit the inauguration of such a noble project. The two states in contention were Wyoming and New Hampshire. The reason was that Wyoming and New Hampshire were the closest thing to a Libertarian Society. Regardless, New Hampshire won and the Free State Project invited those who wanted to participate and sign up to live in New Hampshire when the time came. Many people signed and there were Libertarians who were moving into New Hampshire in order to participate in the Free State Project. In fact, there was one person from England [in Great Britain] who participated and decided to move from England to New Hampshire. I can only imagine right now that he is a naturalized citizen of the United States of America. The Free State Project was also separated from the Libertarian Party as a project designed by members of the Libertarian Party in the United States of America of their own volition. It should also serve as a reminder that the Libertarian Party was founded in 1972 and is gradually growing at the present moment as the citizens of the United States of America find out that the Republican and Democratic Party have lost contact in all spheres with them.

For those who are from Australia and belong to the Liberty and Democracy Party, what was mentioned was the experience of the Free State Project and the Libertarian Party in the United States of America. The Australians who are members of the Liberty and Democracy Party would be advised to read this article and visit the websites of the Free State Project and the Libertarian Party of the United States of America for further information. The Australians who belong to the Liberty and Democracy Party should [after reading carefully the information] start modeling their party and their Free State Project based on the realities of Australia since every country [even ones that share the same language] have their own set of realities. The only thing I can say is that I wish the Australians who belong to the Liberty and Democracy Party the best in their endeavors.

Pat Riley Resigns as Miami Heat Coach

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 01:18:16

According to CBS 4 News in Miami Florida, Pat Riley resigned as Miami Heat Coach after discussions with Miami Heat Owner Micky Arlson. He will be replaced by Erik Spoelstra. The news comes as no surprise since the 2007-2008 Miami Heat Season was the worst disaster in NBA History with losses and the departure of Shaquille O Neal to Phoenix, Arizona.

Libertarian Party: Ration Government, Not Food

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-29 - 01:02:48

Ration government, not food

Food rationing in America represents the ultimate failure of government regulation

Washington, D.C. - Food rationing has started for the first time in the United States as food prices soar across the nation. The Libertarian Party blames government regulation for the worsening economic and food conditions in a statement from the Libertarian Party by Executive Director Shane Cory:

"Food rationing for the first time in the United States is the tragic consequence of government interference in the free market. From crop subsidies to disastrous energy policies, the end result is food shortages in the most prosperous nation in the world. Republicans and Democrats have failed to stay out of the economy, and American citizens are paying for it at the pump and on the dinner table. Americans need a government that recognizes the need to stay out of the market, so that we can avoid the catastrophic repercussions that come from economic meddling."

The Libertarian Party is America's third largest political party, founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. You can find more information on the Libertarian Party by visiting www.LP.org. The Libertarian Party proudly stands for smaller government, lower taxes and more freedom.

Phillies: Student Visas, Weapon for Liberty

George Phillies for President 2008

Phillies: Student Visas, Weapon for Liberty

Worcester, Mass., April 28: Libertarian Presidential candidate George Phillies today called for expansion of student visa programs. "There is no more powerful way to show people the rewards of freedom," Phillies said, "than to bring them into our country as students. While here, foreign students enrich the education of our fellow Americans. When they go home, these same foreign students who came to America for undergraduate and advanced degrees will become powerful ambassadors for liberty."

Phillies recalled 1991, when some of the first Russian graduate students came to his own university. "To help them acclimate to America," he said, "We took them to the local supermarket. Their jaws would drop. Later they told me, 'I saw that, and I knew Russia had lost the cold war'."

"That's the benefit of bringing students to America," Phillies said. "They learn about our country, its customs, and the richness of our life. Hopefully they like what they see, and they take the idea of freedom and the promise of those rewards back to their own countries."
