FROM THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY:
Government beefs up as economy flattens out

Government jobs increase by biggest rate in six years as economy struggles to grow

WASHINGTON, D.C. - As the economy struggles to grow, the Bureau of Labor Statistics is reporting that local, state and federal governments have added a combined 76,800 jobs in the first quarter of 2008, with nearly 18 percent of those jobs at the federal level. In response to the numbers, the Libertarian Party issued this response by National Media Coordinator Andrew Davis:

"While the private sector sheds jobs and the economy fails to grow by even one percentage point in the first quarter, government at all levels is growing at an alarming pace. Government expansion is bad for the economy, and even worse for liberty. In the end, taxpayers are left with less rights and a bigger tab to pay. The economic stimulus package Americans should be asking for is a new government come November that is willing to cut taxes and reduce spending."

The Libertarian Party is America's third largest political party, founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. You can find more information on the Libertarian Party by visiting www.LP.org. The Libertarian Party proudly stands for smaller government, lower taxes and more freedom.

RESPUESTA A GEORGE PHILLIES Y SU ARTICULO: “EL BUEN COMPORTAMIENTO POLITICO”

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-30 - 14:00:01

Response to Debate and Cvility

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-04-30 - 13:59:16

RESPONSE TO DEBATE AND CIVILITY

George Phillies who is the Libertarian Party Candidate for President of the United States of America wrote about “Debate and Civility” in his latest press release. I have read the Press Release and decided to write my response to his Press Release. Another reason why I am writing this response is because of the deteriorating civility in the United States of America including interpersonal relations. On the morning of the 30th of April 2008, I saw a tourist from Iowa in one of my favourite restaurants. The tourist from Iowa had a T-Shirt that said “Iowa Democrat” and she was inpatient for her coffee. Finally, she told the people in the restaurant to “keep your coffee” and started muttering about a Latin Invasion. I was picking up my breakfast and told her that there were many US Citizens by birth in Miami Florida. Her response was to accuse me of being Republican. When I told her that I am a Libertarian, she left the restaurant using every expletive in the English Language. We see the Republicans and Democrats polarizing the United States of America and showing off their intolerance and bigotry. This incident has reinforced my loyalty to the Libertarian Party.

We are now approaching the Libertarian Party National Convention at the end of May 2008 and we will be nominating our candidate. We have to be very careful whom we nominate since our nominee will be competing against the Republicans and Democrats who have all of the support of the mainstream media and possess an intolerance that has permeated our society. We have to be careful to not attack each other so as to give Republicans and Democrats an excuse to continue with the status quo and politics as usual. This cannot occur since the United States of America is slowly dying and the people who are killing our country are not “the foreigners”, it is the same “American Citizens” with their bigotry, intolerance towards people who “do not look or behave” like them. The so called “American Citizens” who are killing off the United States of America are doing it via the interference of the state in the life of the United States of America.

I agree with George Phillies in his latest press release and we need to look at ourselves in the mirror. We must say: “We are Americans, We are members of the Party that identifies more with America which is the Libertarian Party. We are supporters of George Phillies and will vote for him or any other candidate that the Libertarian Party nominates.” We must overcome our fear on Election Day 2008 and ignore the negative people who insult us when we vote Libertarian or identify ourselves as Libertarian. We should have the courage to say no to the Anti American Values of Insults and say Yes to Resolving Our Problems by Voting Libertarian. If you live in a state where a Libertarian does not appear in the ballot and can write in the Libertarian Candidate, by all means do so. If we do not vote Libertarian or for George Phillies, the United States of America will either go the way of the Roman Empire or Yugoslavia [complete with civil wars in the style of Bosnia]. You are masters of your destiny, Vote for America and Vote Libertarian.

Lakota Oyate

basemapmedia

Lakota has been reborn as a free and sovereign nation! This rebirth is the realization of an ongoing process lasting no less than 33 years and guided by the Great Mystery, the Ancestors, and traditional Elders.

1974: The first International Indian Treaty Council brings together more than 5000 delegates representing 98 Indian tribes and Nations from North and South America. The Declaration of Continuing Independence, a manifesto representing the wisdom of thousands of people, their Ancestors, and the Great Mystery supports the rights of Indigenous Nations to live free and to take whatever actions necessary for sovereignty.

2004: Lakota representatives renew communication with the traditional chiefs and treaty councils in the following communities: Pine Ridge, Porcupine, Kyle, Rosebud, Lower Brule, Cheyenne River, Standing Rock, and Flandreau. Additional consultation with the Treaty Council occurred during a Defenders of Black Hills meeting in Rapid City.

December 17, 2007: Lakota Freedom Delegation delivers letter to U.S. State Department in Washington D.C. withdrawing from all treaties with the United States government. Delegation consists of Mni yuha Najin Win (Phyllis Young), Teghiya Kte (Gary Rowland), Oyate Wacinyapin (Russell Means), Canupa Gluha Mani (Duane Martin Sr.), Delegation Liaison Naomi Archer (Iladurarrak Nation), and several other members.

December 17, 2007: Freedom Delegation holds international press conference at Plymouth congregational church in Washington D.c. News becomes world-wide sensation. Website receives over half-a-million hits from more than 100 different nations in one week!

December 30, 2007: Lakota Freedom Delegation website and contact info taken by one delegation member without consent of all other delegates. So-called "Republic of Lakotah" and "provisional government" is announced despite the fact "republic" is not a Lakota word and Lakota already has a traditional form of government still in existence.

January 1, 2008: Lakota Oyate emerges from the Lakota Freedom Delegation to ensure the voice of the people - Elders and children - is respected and heard. Contact information continues from Freedom Delegation with email to lakotafree [at] gmail.com and liaison/media phone to (828) 230-1404.

January 1, 2008: Lakota Oyate launches website at www.lakotaoyate.net to provide an online forum for the Lakota oyate who use the computer to voice their feelings and ideas about their lives. [website under development]

January 5, 2008: Meeting and honor ceremony for the Lakota Freedom Delegation held in St. Francis on Rosebud.

January 7, 2008: Lakota Oyate and the Lakota Freedom movement comes under attack from (Lakota) individuals who send out false and slanderous emails, as well as threats from the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). Gary Garrison of the BIA stated the group's withdrawal "doesn't mean anything" and threatened, "when they begin the process of violating other people's rights, breaking the law, they're going to end up like all the other groups that have declared themselves independent - usually getting arrested and being put in jail."

January 18, 2008: Lakota Oyate calls for ending of COINTELPRO type personal attacks and false statements, and for the voices of the Elders and children to be heard in the emergence of a free and independent Lakota Nation.

http://www.lakotaoyate.net/history.html

Lakota Oyate represents the traditional voice of the free Lakota oyate (people) from what was known as the Sioux Indian reservations of Nebraska, North Dakota,South Dakota and Montana.

In our freedom, we reject the colonial apartheid system that has caused genocide to our people, and to all Indigenous peoples.

Lakota Oyate emerges from the work of the Lakota Freedom Delegation. Now that we have returned from Washington D.C., we work to ensure the voice of the oyate - the Elders, children and all people - are respected and heard in the rebirth of a Lakota Nation rooted in the power of wowasakeikcupi, or taking back the way.

We do not represent those BIA or IRA governments beholden to the colonial system, but we encourage all people to reclaim their freedom.

We do not support the continuing imposition of the "Republic of Lakotah" or its so-called "provisional government" which does not represent the will of the people, the traditional matrilineal Lakota society structure, nor the spirit of the Animal Nations which survive within the Elders and children.

We do call for communication and healing so that all aspects of the Lakota Freedom movement can work together under the guidance of the Elders and children.

Debate and Civility

George Phillies for President 2008

Debate and Civility

Worcester, Mass, April 29: Libertarian Presidential Candidate George Phillies issued a statement today regarding civility in debate in the Presidential race, taking candidates to task for mudslinging while encouraging his fellow Libertarian candidates not to shy away from asking and answering hard questions.

"Each Party's Presidential campaign has given us spectacular exchanges: Giuliani vs Paul in their first debate. Clinton vs Obama, debate after debate after debate. The Libertarian spat between Ruwart and Root," said Phillies. "When exchanges degenerate to the level of a Jerry Springer episode, the issues are lost in the shouting.

"On one hand, many Americans wish that candidates would always be nice to each other. They're right. It's bad for America when arguments about flag pins drown out questions on the Federal debt and the trade deficit.

"On the other hand, and I say this to my fellow candidates of all parties, if you can't face down critics in your own party, how will you face down your real opponents this Fall? To their credit, Senators Clinton, McCain, and Obama took the worst their fellow Democrats and Republicans threw at them. It was trial by fire, and they emerged as better candidates and better people. At the very least, they demonstrated their ability to hold their ground and defend their viewpoints.

"Libertarians should take that lesson to heart. The Libertarian Party is a political party, not an academic pontificating society. Americans expect candidates to differ with their opponents when there are differences, not to pretend those differences aren't there. They want to see and explore those differences, and we need to let them.

"At the same time, debate can get carried away. Attacks that should be leveled at issues are instead leveled at candidates themselves. The objective, after all, is to move toward victory in November. Libertarians expect that Libertarian candidates will campaign for fellow Libertarians, not for our Democratic opponents. Libertarians expect that Libertarian candidates will take libertarian stands, not embrace positions of the remote religious right. Libertarians expect that Libertarian candidates will self-identify as Libertarian, not as Republican. Readers in other parties justly have exactly the same expectations about their own candidates."
