FROM THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY:
Libertarian Party says Obama 'sold out' liberty on FISA compromise

Party disappointed with Obama backpedaling on FISA
Washington, D.C. - The Libertarian Party condemned Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama for recently stating he does not oppose the Bush administration's program of illegally spying on U.S. citizens. "Obama has sold out liberty in his refusal to stand up to Republicans on FISA," says Libertarian Party spokesperson Andrew Davis.

"We have come to expect Republicans to hold a contempt for basic protections of civil liberties," says Davis. "To see this same type of reckless disregard for the Constitution from Democrats--especially their presidential nominee--is extremely unfortunate. Democrats were given a chance to stand up to Republicans after the 2006 election, but they have failed to do so time and time again ever since. Obama's refusal to state a clear opposition to the President's illegal program of domestic surveillance is just one more example of how both Republicans and Democrats have failed the American people."

In an interview last week with ABC News' Senior National Correspondent Jack Tapper, Obama stated, "I haven't opposed, for example, the national security surveillance program, the NSA program," adding that he believed the program could be done without violating the Constitution.

"Perhaps it is in Obama's nature as a big-government liberal to trust the government with unchecked power," Davis adds, "but supporting a proposal to give the government blanket permission to spy on American citizens should give voters an idea of how much Obama respects the Constitution and privacy rights."

The Libertarian Party has called repeatedly to reject any amendment to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that empowers the government to spy on U.S. citizens, which includes the most recent "compromise" by Republicans and Democrats. Additionally, Libertarian Party candidate for president Bob Barr recently issued a video that blasted supporters of the recent FISA amendments.

The Libertarian Party is America's third largest political party, founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. US ELECTORAL FRAUD

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-06-22 - 22:40:21

The Election Process is a Fraud in all of its spheres. In fact, many of the voting machines [which were used to rig the elections in favour of the Republicans and Democrats] were also used in Venezuela during the 2004 and 2006 Elections.

Returning to the USA, the political process represses the Alternative Parties such as the Libertarians with discriminatory laws that make it almost impossible for these states to gain access to the ballot box. We can not forget how the State of Ohio nullified 57,000 signatures on a mere technicality in 2004 and refused to debate the alternative parties in 2006.

All of this comes from a country that prides itself in being a beacon of democracy and human rights to the world only to practice psychological and Physical repression of alternative parties inside the USA.

What is needed is an opening of the US Political Process in Elections with ALL Parties campaigning on an equal footing instead of two parties that have become mammoth in size and oppressive in nature.

For this reason and much more, I challenge the USA [I can do it since I live and was born in the USA] to study ALL of the candidates and if necessary, throw out the process, the Republicans, and Democrats and replace it with an adherence to the US Constitution, a Libertarian Statesman who will guide the country towards a brighter future, and a direct democracy.

A Message from the Libertarian Party

Thirty states and counting!

That's right, the Libertarian Party is on the ballot in 30 states across the nation and still on track to be on at least 48 by November.

Thanks to all of your hard work and donations, we are able to finish the ballot access drive in Illinois this week, and are continuing to work in Pennsylvania. In the very near future, we will be turning our sights to Ohio, Alabama, Kentucky and Maine.

But the fight isn't over yet!

We still have 19 states left to give voters another choice for representation in 2008. While more than half the work is done, we still have a long way to go.

This is why we need your help in making sure the Libertarian Party is on the ballot in November for all voters!

Every dollar you donate to ballot access will be used to help spread the message of liberty to voters desperate for another choice in 2008. To donate to our ballot access drive, please visit our Web site at www.LP.org and contribute at https://www.lp.org/contribute.

We are also still looking for volunteers to assist with ballot access efforts in states that we have yet to get on the ballot. Every signature collected by a volunteer is a signature we don't have to pay a petitioner to gather. This can save the Party up to $2 per signature!

If you are interested in helping out with collecting signatures to give voters more choice, please sign up at http://www.lp.org/volunteer.

Even if you are unable to gather signatures, you can help the Libertarian Party get on the ballot by donating at https://www.lp.org/contribute.

We thank you for considering donating to ballot access or volunteering your time in order to help the Libertarian Party get our candidates elected, and in turn, bring more choice and freedom to all Americans.

Sincerely,

Bill Redpath

Barr Root is Becoming a Big Alternative to Washington

Dear Friend,

The Barr/Root campaign is picking up steam!

Over the past few weeks Bob has been traveling from city to city and meeting with supporters and groups who share our message of liberty.

Additionally, the strong media coverage continues with Bob being interviewed by the Washington Post, Fox News, the Christian Broadcasting Network, Time Magazine, NPR, Alan Colmes and many local radio and television stations.

On top of that, Bob's running mate, Wayne Allyn Root, has been hitting the radio waves several times a day to promote our ticket.

Our staff is coming together strongly as our web team has relocated from California to our campaign hub in Atlanta. I've also made the move from Virginia along with the Libertarian Party's media coordinator, Andrew Davis.

We are working around the clock to get this campaign moving at full speed for our outstanding presidential ticket.

A few days ago, you heard from Russ Verney regarding our need for ballot access funding.

I need to reinforce this need to you.

Money is our number one need right now. We have the media; Bob is climbing in the polls; and our grassroots efforts are exploding – we've picked up 2,000 Meetup members in a week!

On top of our ballot access needs, Russ has instructed me to immediately raise $31,000 to move into our permanent campaign headquarters. We need to rent and install "bullpen" desk setups for our staffers. To start, we'll have 30 dedicated, Barr/Root staffers and volunteers which will cost us $200 for setup and takedown plus $125 per month for each staffer.

To get rolling and cover the first month we need to raise $40,750.

Right now, we're completely out of space in our temporary location (as I type this, I'm literally back to back with six others in a single office) and can't fit in any more workers.

The location that we need to secure – if we can raise the funds – is an old AT&T call center. Russ loves it because it's a very big open room with only two, small windows.

It really is a perfect space for our campaign team that is sprinting into what has been a two-party contest.

If you have not done so recently, please take a minute right now and donate what you can. We need $31,000 to sign this lease plus $325 to setup and cover a staffer for a month.

Please follow this link donate generously: https://www.bobbarr2008.com/donate/?c=fbgp0620

I appreciate all that you do, and please check BobBarr2008.com every day for news and videos about Bob and Wayne from the campaign trail.

Wexler: Impeach Bush

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-06-21 - 04:06:15

IMP1IMP2

It has been a busy day in Congress today and while our movement for accountability for the Bush/Cheney White House just took a major leapforward with the testimony of former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan, we also unfortunately took a terrible step backwards with the tragic approval of new FISA legislation. I voted against this awful FISA law that degrades the privacy guarantees of our Constitution.
McClellan's Testimony
What we heard from Mr. McClellan was confirmation under oath of what we have long suspected: the President, Vice President, Karl Rove, Scooter Libby and others purposefully conspired to mislead Americans for political gain and at the cost of the lives of our soldiers, the security of our nation, and the sanctity of our Constitution.
Today, Scott McClellan said that he considers it a likely possibility that Vice President Dick Cheney was the person who authorized the leak of Valerie Plame Wilson's covert status. Mr. McClellan also said that he believes more White House officials should come before Congress and reveal the truth about this Administration's actions.
McClellan's testimony underscores a simple reality:
We must dig deeper. As I said today in the Judiciary Committee hearing, the facts we know now are more than enough to justify impeachment hearings for President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney. You can read my entire testimony today below.
There is no higher agenda than protecting the Constitution. The Separation of Powers principle is being threatened, our Civil Rights are under attack, and must pursue accountability no matter what the political cost.
- DONATE -

The FISA Vote

Today I voted against the so-called FISA "compromise" bill, as the only thing that is really being compromised is our civil rights.
In spite of the earnest, hard work of many Members of Congress, the President has continued to demand that Congress rubber-stamp his illegal wiretapping program.
Every American wants to protect our country from terrorists; but the President is not asking for tools to thwart terrorists. He is demanding unchecked power. He expects the Congress to throw out even the most modest, expedited court review on the absurd premise that a specially designed court with over 30 years of experience handling surveillance requests is suddenly going to bring our nation's intelligence operations to a standstill.
The rights of everyday Americans are at issue here, and full accountability needed. A court that is given full and appropriate review of the particular circumstances in each case is the only appropriate venue for making decisions about immunity for actions that may or may not have violated the civil liberties of some individuals.
In addition, while I am sympathetic to the difficult position telephone and Internet service providers, who may have thought they were doing their patriotic duty, the fact remains that I simply cannot support offering retroactive immunity. I have had the opportunity to view some of the documents in question, and I can say that my position on this subject is unchanged.
I will continue to support the March 14th House bill that preserves the appropriate court review of all surveillance of US citizens and gives judges the discretion to review all the necessary documents related to telecom lawsuits without offering blanket immunity.
Continue Our Fight for Accountability

I also want to thank the thousands of Americans who sent emails to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel defending my position in favor of impeachment. I can assure you I will not back down.
In fact, over the next week I will appearing on numerous television programs where I intend to raise these issues as often as I can. You can see me on the following television shows:
• Sunday, June 22nd at noon (EST) on CNN's Late Edition,
• Tuesday, June 24 at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm (EST) on Hardball on MSNBC,
• Wednesday June 25 at 3:30 pm (EST) on CNN's the Situation Room,
•Thursday June 26 at 11:30 pm (EST) on Comedy Central's the Colbert Report
•Friday June 27 at 7:30 am (EST) on MSNBC's Morning Joe.
I am grateful for your continued support and advocacy.

TEXT OF REP WEXLER AND SCOTT MCCLELLAN DURING TODAY'S HEARING

Robert Wexler: Thank you Mister Chairman, thank you Mr. McClellan, for appearing before this committee today. Your book raises many questions about the administration that is incapable of telling the truth and, in your words, avoids accountability. I want to focus on how and why Scooter Libby came to reveal the identity of covert CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson. From everything we know about this administration, it is inconceivable that Mr. Libby would have acted alone. It is essential we learn who ordered or gave permission to Mr. Libby to expose the identity of this covert agent. The president and vice president have denied ordering this illegal leak, but logic and the chain of command dictates that it must have been one of them. Mr. McClellan, in your book you state that you cannot believe President Bush authorized the leak of Valerie Plame Wilson’s status as a covert agent. It is unimaginable to you that the President, one of only two people who had the authority to give Libby the go-ahead to make this leak, actually did it. So who does that leave us? The Vice President. You do not defend Mr. Cheney in your book; in fact, the lack of faith you express in the Vice President in your book is striking. Why?
Scott McClellan: Well, he is someone who keeps things pretty close to the vest, to say the least. I do not know what his thinking is or what his involvement was in this whole episode. I think that Patrick Fitzgerald stated it well when he talked about the cloud that was remaining over the Vice President’s office because of Scooter Libby’s actions that lead to his conviction on four counts, I guess, but there’s a lot of suspicion there because there are questions that have never been answered, despite the fact that we said at some point we would address these issues.
Wexler: So this suspicion leads you to believe that Vice President Cheney could have authorized Mr. Libby’s leak?
McClellan: I can’t rule it out, and I think that Scooter Libby in his, some testimony that he’s talked about, it’s possible that he could have first learned about her from, or that the Vice President could have even asked him to get that information out.
Wexler: Well, thank you for your candor, Mr. McClellan. Your suspicion or the doubts that you raise fit in very nicely to what it is we do know. We do know Mr. Cheney has been deeply involved in the efforts to cover up the leak and exonerate Mr. Libby. We know Mr. Cheney called you to have you unknowingly lie to the American people about Libby’s involvement. We know that the Vice President wrote a note where he starts to write and then crosses out the fact that the president himself asked Libby to stick his neck into a meat grinder to protect the administration. It is clear to me that Mr. Cheney is the only one left; the only likely suspect to have ordered the leak. If Mr. Cheney really thought Libby was innocent, then his note would have likely said something like “We need to protect this man who has done nothing wrong.” But that’s not what Mr. Cheney’s note said. The Vice President’s own hand betrays him and Libby, and implicates the President of the United States.

These facts and your testimony, Mr. McClellan, are more than enough in my view to open up impeachment hearings. Furthermore, the President’s use of the pardon power to deflect an investigation into his own wrongdoing by granting a commutation to the man who may have lied for him, would constitute an abuse and crime of the highest order. And we must determine on this committee conclusively whether or not this happened. Thank you, Mr. McClellan, for exposing some of the lies that were propagated by this White House. But unfortunately, as you have said, I believe as well, others in this White House have been blocking access to the truth. It’s time we sweep away the bogus claims of executive privilege and get Karl Rove, Andy Card, and others before this judiciary committee. We have the power of inhering contempt, and if need be, we should use it. Mr. McClellan, what you have provided today for the American people is enormously important. You are the first high official in this administration to come before this Congress and offer us a glimpse into the truth. I commend you for being here today.
McClellan: Thank you Congressman. I do believe it’s important for the American people to have the truth.

EU schools US on practical foreign policy with Cuba

Libertarian Party encourages US to follow the EU's lead on Cuban policy

Washington, D.C. - As the European Union prepares to lift its limited sanctions on Cuba, the Libertarian Party is encouraging the Bush administration to follow suit. "The United States could learn much from the EU's decision to lift its remaining sanctions on Cuba," says Libertarian Party spokesperson Andrew Davis.

"The EU's decision to remove its last remaining sanctions on Cuba indicates a willingness to work with Cuba on human rights in a non-threatening manner," says Davis. "Current US policy towards Cuba creates an acrimonious relationship with that country and has done nothing but hurt American businesses and the Cuban people. US sanctions on Cuba have been a costly mistake since the 1960s, and it is time to correct that error. Though largely symbolic, the EU's decision should set an example for the future of American foreign policy with Cuba."

The Libertarian Party encourages a practical foreign policy with Cuba that replaces hostile sanctions with free trade and tourism. The Libertarian Party calls for the immediate suspension of all sanctions on Cuba, claiming, "The Cuban people and American industry suffer under such ineffectual policies as the Cuban embargo."

The Libertarian Party is America's third largest political party, founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. Journalist Meltdown: The Alycia Lane and CBS 3 Story [A Personal Reflection]

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-06-20 - 18:32:15

At a time of increasing globalization, it is easy to see the people even in the press. The US Mainstream Media has been no exception as the melodrama of Alycia Lane VS KYW TV [A CBS Affiliate in Philadelphia Pennsylvania] plays itself out. It appears that there are news reporters who like being in the news instead of reporting the news. We have to look at the other side of the coin, Western Society [including the United States of America] have raised the stature of the news reporter do that of a personality in the style of Hollywood. In fact, many news stations have participated in the attempt to create a false God with the television journalist blurring the distinction between professional and private lives. It did not have to be that way since there was a time when the news reporter from Radio, TV, and Print was respected and Professional as well as Private Life was separated. I am also using references since this melodrama has been highly controversial.

I read about Alycia Lane suing CBS 3.com for being wrongfully terminated and decided to write about it. There have been many things that have been written about Alycia Lane. One of the comments written about her has been “how being associated with Alycia Lane can be dangerous to anyone with a job”. The story about CBS 3 News Reporter Larry Mendte opening the E Mail of Alycia Lane and revealing the contents gave Philadelphia better entertainment than soap operas and the primaries. Mr. Mendte’s unprofessional behaviour also leads to his termination and an investigation into the affair by the FBI as well as the confiscation of Ms. Lane’s computer by the above mentioned institution. If what Mr. Mendte did was true, he could be convicted under Federal Law since the reading of private E Mails is a Federal Crime. It has also been news that Alycia Lane’s boyfriend Chris Booker was terminated by Q 102 even though he remains popular.

There have been stories about Alycia Lane being arrested after punching a police officer and being acquitted after being told by prosecutors to “stay out of trouble for six months and perform community service”. Alycia Lane also erred in judgment by sending a private E Mail with provocative photos to NFL Network News Reporter Rick Eisen. The E Mail and provocative photos were discovered by Mr. Eisen’s Wife Suzy Shuster [who occasionally reports about College American Football for ABC [American Broadcasting Corporation]. CBS 3.com even asked Ms. Lane to interview and discuss her personal problems with Dr. Phil [depending on which version]. An attempt to contact CBS 3 concerning the termination of Alycia Lane and the lawsuit for wrongful termination was answered by the following: “We cannot comment on the case”. Attempts to establish contact with the people involved in this melodrama have been without success.

Alycia Lane appeared to have everything in life as a journalist. Alycia Lane is bilingual and is a US Latin who was born in Lake Grove, New York on the tenth of May in the year 1972. Alycia Lane was born to a Welsh Father and a Puerto Rican Mother. Alycia Lane graduated from the Medill School of Journalism of Northwestern University with a Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism as well as being an Undergraduate of the State University of New York at Albany. Alycia Lane is also a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Alycia Lane has worked for stations such as KSNT of Topeka, Kansas, as well as News 12 in the Bronx, New York City, New York. It was in News 12 where she made her mark in journalism covering the 1999 death of Amadou Diallo in the hands of New York Police Officers. Alycia Lane went on to work for WSVN 7 as well as WTVJ [an NBC Affiliate] in Miami Florida before moving to Philadelphia Pennsylvania to work in KYW TV.

Alycia Lane during her work with KYW TV managed to earn an Emmy Award for her television special “Holiday Traditions”. How can Alycia Lane suffer the way she did in spite of her accomplishments? Is it possible for a journalist to suffer a meltdown in the same fashion as other professionals?

I cannot enter the mind of a professional in meltdown but there is the possibility that Alycia Lane started her meltdown after moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. One could only imagine the abuse probably based on her ethnicity by the establishment including the US Mainstream Media. Journalism like most professions can be brutal even on the most resilient personalities especially minorities who work in the US Mainstream Media.

My criticism of Alycia Lane is for her lack of judgment when she E Mailed a Television Presenter [who is married] her provocative photos. It is a sin and an act of poor judgment to send provocative photos to a married person. Alycia Lane violated the Sacrament of Marriage with that miscue. The second error was assaulting a police officer. While the New York Police may have their defects, assaulting a police officer in the United States of America and other parts of the world is wrong and is punishable. I wish Alycia Lane the best in her endeavors and hope she has learned from her experience in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I also hope that CBS 3.com in Philadelphia Pennsylvania learn from their experience not to treat their employees as paper cups that can be discarded later on.

UE y Castro

Phillies Files Declaration of Intent

George Phillies for President 2008

Phillies Files Declaration of Intent

Concord, New Hampshire, June 19: Libertarian Party of New Hampshire Presidential candidate George Phillies has filed his candidacy papers with New Hampshire Secretary of State William Gardner. "Being nominated for President is the highest honor a political party can bestow on one of its members," Phillies said, "and I will do my utmost to show that New Hampshire's trust is not misplaced."

Speaking of the National Libertarian Party, which separately nominated a different Presidential candidate, Phillies said: "The New Hampshire Party has been collecting signatures for me since Spring 2007.

Unfortunately, the people of New Hampshire in their wisdom do not permit political parties to replace their Presidential candidate. I was chosen as the candidate, and so I must remain."

Phillies says his campaign will emphasize an immediate end to the Iraq War, termination of warrantless wiretaps of most telephones with criminal prosecution of the wiretappers, and massive cuts in Federal spending of all sorts. "The people of New Hampshire pay far more in Federal taxes than they get back. The only way to fix the system is to leave your hard-earned money where it belongs, in your wallet," Phillies said.

The New Hampshire Party has already completed petitioning for Phillies and other candidates, including U.S. Senate Candidate Ken Blevens of Bow, New Hampshire, Congressional candidates Robert Kingsbury of Laconia and Chester LaPointe of Swanzey, as well as candidate for Governor Susan Newell of Winchester.

VFP GOES TO WASHINGTON D.C. AND SCORES ONE FOR IMPEACHMENT OF BUSH AND CHENEY!

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-06-20 - 13:19:52

VFP GOES TO WASHINGTON D.C. AND SCORES ONE FOR IMPEACHMENT!
Washington, D.C. - On June 11, a 17-member delegation of Veterans For Peace presented some 23,000 petitions to Congressman John Conyers (D-MI), demanding the impeachment of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Conyers, chair of the House Committee on the Judiciary, is the Member of Congress with the authority to call for impeachment hearings.
Also Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to send the 35 Articles of Impeachment, submitted Monday evening by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) to the Judiciary Committee for consideration and hearings.
THE IMPORTANT THING NOW is to turn up the heat on Congress to get them to act! Start with the Judiciary Committee if your Rep. is on it and whether or not they're on that committee, give them a call!

GOP & Democrats Die A Slow Death

by AlvarezGalloso @ 2008-06-20 - 03:21:04

We are witnessing the death of the Republican and Democratic Party while the media talks about Mc Cain and Obama. The Democratic Party has been dying for a long time secondary to its nanny state mentality that has strangled the economy. The Republican Party is now joining the Democratic Party in a slow dance of death that the people and the pundits have yet to realize. The only true Republicans Ronald Reagan and William Howard Taft would be turning over their grave if they saw what Bush has wrought. In fact, Bush is the continuation of the beginning of the stench of death initiated during the Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, and Bush I Years.

The reasons for the demise of the Republicans as well as the Democratic Party has been the placing of the interests of the party above the nation, the denial of the rights of the Libertarians and other political parties to compete on an even scale secondary to discriminatory ballot access laws, the decision to go to war in Iraq which has left the American Nation drained physically as well as emotionally, and the fact that the Republicans and Democrats have lost touch with the realities of the United States of America. The same can apply to the Mainstream Media and Special Interest Groups that cater to the Republican and Democratic Party.

The Republican Party [as well as the Democratic Party] is also digging its own grave secondary to the abuse of gasoline prices under the guise of the "free" economy which does not exist. The Republicans and Democrats started the w
